Lonestar Finds Success with the Beast

Following an exciting weekend filled with standout performances at the 17u Beast of the East Invitational, Lonestar Baseball Club National capped off its impressive run by earning co-champion honors after the championship game was cut short due to inclement weather with a 6-4 score in their favor. Lonestar's strong start to the summer was fueled by dominant pitching performances and an explosive offensive attack throughout the lineup. 

“It was definitely fun to see our boys compete the way they did against solid competition and have the success they did,” Lonestar National head coach Brad Dydalewicz said. “It was a great team effort to start the summer season. This team is a special group of ball players and spectacular young men that play hard and compete their tails off. They enjoy playing together and have a ton of fun on the field. It makes it fun to coach for sure.” 



Lonestar National commenced the weekend by going 2-1 in pool play contests, including shutout victories over the Atlanta Braves Scout Team, and The Yard. The pitching staff did a commendable job throughout the weekend but was especially efficient prior to bracket play as Ryan Kume and Owen Kuhl allowed just one hit respectively to lead their team to success. These performances helped the young stars earn MVP and MVPitcher honors as Kume also delivered at the plate with a pair of homers and 9 RBI throughout the weekend to help his case for the MVP award. 

Despite not going undefeated before Sunday, Lonestar’s 3-0 head-to-head win over the Braves Scout Team landed them the No. 6 seed in highly anticipated bracket play. From there, the team dominated in their first round, beating Wow Factor American 13-0, highlighted by home runs from third baseman Braylon Jones and catcher Harrison Williams. 

Lonestar faced some struggles in their next two matchups, trailing both games in the early innings, but the fiery offense was able to rally late into the game and earn a date in the championship game against eXposure. 

In the weekend finale, Lonestar National’s bats started quiet just as their previous performances, and the team found themselves down 1-0 in the third inning. Despite only finding one hit thus far into the contest, Braylon Jones and Harrison Williams came up in big ways by clobbering back-to-back opposite field solo homers to give their squad a 2-1 lead, flipping the momentum entirely. 

“To get that rally started is such a rewarding feeling,” Jones said. “After all this team fought through over the week, it’s just a blessing to always be a part of something so special. We work so hard to get in these positions to win and in that moment, I took all I was given.” 

“Braylon getting us on the board was huge,” Williams exclaimed. “He’s a great player and always seems to come through in big moments. Going up right after him, I was just trying to hit something hard and put together a good at-bat. Being able to follow him with a bomb of my own and give us the lead was a really cool moment for our team.” 

Lonestar’s starter, Corbin Medack had been putting on an impressive performance by holding his opponent to just one run in his first three innings of work, and had the opportunity to give himself some extra run support while at the plate. Medack did just that by driving in a pair of runs with a bloop single to the pull side. 

“It felt great getting the start in the championship game against a great team and then getting a big hit when it mattered,” Medack said. “It was just incredible. However, I couldn’t have done it without my teammates playing good defense and giving me run support all game.” 

Braylon Jones eventually came into the championship game in a pressure-packed scenario but was able to escape his team’s jam by inducing a weak popup to end the inning and preserve a 4-2 lead. 

“I always want to compete for my team no matter how it be, and when my name was called to get up there, there was nothing to do but put it all on the line,” Jones said after entering the game in relief. 

Owen Kuhl was able to continue his standout weekend with a solo shot to extend his squad’s lead before the rain neared and the championship contest was cut short in the 6th inning. Despite the rain ending the exciting finale early with a score of 6-4, there are high hopes for Dydalewicz’s team as summer progresses. 

“I’m excited to see what the rest of the summer has in store for these boys,” Dydalewicz said.

Pokers Rally to Capture 16U BCS Title A hot afternoon at JetBlue Stadium in Fort Myers, Florida ended in a 9-1 victory for the Original Florida Pokers 2028 National, defeating SBA Bolts Florida 2028 National on Monday to capture the 16U BCS National Championship. A pitchers’ duel kept the game scoreless through four innings before the Pokers broke it open with a five-run fifth inning. The title marked the Pokers’ second 16U BCS Championship, adding to the championship they won in 2022.
