High School Top 50 Update: June 2

With another few weeks in the book of the high school season, we’ve already had state champions crowned with playoffs happening in some northern states. There have been some upsets so there has been a good amount of movement in the National High School Top-50.

We have a new number-one this update with Tomball (TX) taking over the top spot and will be playing for a state championship this week. They sport a 42-1 record heading into the title game and have been one of the best teams from start to finish this year. St. John Bosco (CA) has now gone back-to-back with Trinity League and CIF Southern Section titles and take over the No. 2 spot. No. 3 Aledo (TX) continues to win, No. 4 Trinity (KY) has been dominant in Kentucky play and No. 5 Norco (CA) lost the Southern Section title game and had a great year. Magnolia Heights (MS) moves up a few spots to No. 8 after winning their 8th straight championship. IMG Academy (FL), South Walton (FL), Harvard-Westlake (CA), and Stoneman Douglas (FL) round out the top-10.



We have 14 new teams that have claimed their spot in the Top-50 with Notre Dame (CA) and Loganville (GA) leading the way at No. 29 and No. 30 respectively. Farragut (TN) has been one of the best teams in Tennessee for a while and won another state title and reclaim a spot at No. 35. CPA (TN), Marcus (TX), Sam Houston (LA), Valley View (AR), James Island (SC), Nolensville (TN), Providence (NC), Cypress (CA), Hartselle (LA), Lake Travis (TX), and Hamilton (AZ) have all either made their debut or are welcomed back after winning titles or playing for them this week in their respective states.

The top-50 is loaded from top-to-bottom in this update with state title winners and teams who have put together incredible runs. We’ll be back soon with another update and crown a national champion.

Following a dominant week at the 17u PG East World Series, No. 34 ranked 643 DP Cougars 17u capped off an impressive tournament run by defeating No. 2 ranked East Cobb Astros 17u, 3-2, in the championship game to claim the title. A tightly contested battle between Canes Florida 2029 and Florida Flames 16u capped the 16U Florida Elite Championship, with the Canes earning a 6-5 walk-off win on Monday at JetBlue Park Stadium. “It means a lot to this team specifically because this is their first win as a group,” Canes head coach Alec Bettinger said. “We’ve come up short a couple times, so seeing one go through the hoop here is really nice for the boys.” The Canes defense came out hot, led by Cannon Tyler who started on the mound for the Canes.
