High School Top 50 Update: April 29

With another week in the books across the country in the high school baseball season, we have another update to the National Top 50. The southern states are rolling through the playoffs as the weeks unfold along with northern states starting to get to the back half of their schedule as the summer is quickly approaching.

The top-10 holds firm in this update as Venice (FL) continues to hold onto the top spot after rattling off W’s since returning home to Florida. Barbe (LA) comes in at No. 2 this week after being ranked at No. 3 a week ago and sport a 37-1 record with 36 straight wins. Orange Lutheran (CA) drops one spot to No. 3 and a pair of Texas schools round out the top-5 as Tomball is at No. 4 and Aledo is at No. 5. 5-9 is the exact same this week as last as IMG Academy (FL) comes in at No. 6, Trinity (KY) is at No. 7, Harvard-Westlake (CA) is at No. 8 and Grapevine (TX) is at No. 9. Corona (CA) is welcomed back into the top-10 after a win against Norco (CA) earlier this week and the rest of that series will unfold in the coming days.

The Stony Brook (NY) continues to jump in these updates and currently sits at 17-1 on the season. St. Laurence (IL) and Center Grove (IN) make big jumps into the top-30 in the country and have dominated their opponents so far this spring. Pope (GA) continues to rattle off wins and move up the rankings as well as Queen Creek (AZ) taking over the top spot in Arizona after a win over Casteel (AZ) last week.

We welcome back some familiar faces to the Top-50 this week as a trio of teams break back in, all of which have been in these rankings in some fashion this spring as well as a new name to the Top-50. Stoneman Douglas (FL) is just winning again and comes back in at No. 45. Brother Martin (LA) has been dominant through the late stages of the season and breaks into the Top-50 at No. 47 this update. Dorman (SC) continues rattling off W’s and is back at No. 48 as well as Gloucester Catholic (NJ) looking dominant since returning home to New Jersey.

The movement in the weekly updates isn’t as substantial as the bi-weekly updates but we still had some big movers in this update. We’ll be back again next week with another update to the National Top-50 along with regional updates rolling out as well.

No Luck Needed for the Shamrocks

The spring has come to a close and with the summer in full swing, it’s time to crown a National Champion for the High School season. The Trinity Shamrocks out of Louisville, Kentucky had an incredible year and finished the season winning back-to-back state titles, more impressively finishing on a 24 game winning streak. The spring was filled with dominant performances from the Shamrocks, led by PG All-American Grayson Willoughby who turned in a dominant effort in the state title game, a game in which they won 12-0. They played a rigorous schedule that saw them go 2-2 at NHSI including a win over St. John Bosco (CA) as well as a win over Tampa Jesuit (FL), both of which would go on to win state titles in powerhouse baseball states. Lucas Nawrocki, LHP/1B, Aledo HS L-L, 5-11/197, Aledo, TX College Commitment: LSU Lucas Nawrocki put together a monster year on both sides of the ball, although the profile may be suited better for the mound in pro ball. Nawrocki features a stocky frame that works down the mound into a low-slot release. The fastball sits in the mid-90’s with carry to the top of the zone. It can reach spin rates near 2700 rpm. The left-hander can spin a slider exceptionally well. The pitch sits in the mid-80’s with big sweeping action and spin rates over 3000 rpm. A firm upper-80's changeup rounds out the pitch mix. The fastball works up to 96 mph with more to come. It is thrown on a downhill plane. A sharp curveball pairs well off of it and can miss bats. A cutter and changeup round out the pitch mix, but still need to be refined. 201. Cole Stokes, RHP, Florida State R-R, 6-6/230, Redondo Beach, CA Previously Drafted: Never Drafted Cole Stokes is an imposing 6-foot-6 arm with loud stuff too. Moore sports complex. The weather was perfect, and the atmosphere was right for some great softball. After grinding out a 4-3 victory over Canes American 14U to open bracket play, Gulf Coast Edge followed with a dominant 13-1 playoff win against Knights Baseball 14U National to secure their spot in the tournament bracket. With a postseason run for the ages, the Oklahoma Sooners (43-23) took home the National Championship and naturally finish the 2026 season as our No. 1 team in the land. It is the third national title for the Sooners, playing in their 12th CWS and making their fourth championship series appearance. They add to previous national titles won in 1951 and 1994 and did it by taking the most difficult path of any team in this year’s tournament. In the NCAA Tournament, Oklahoma took down national seeds, No. 2 Georgia Tech twice, No. 3 Georgia twice, No. 5 UNC twice, No. 7 Alabama and No. 15 Kansas twice. When the summer season arrives, every team is searching for momentum. For ZT National Prospects, that momentum has come from throughout the lineup. After clinching their spot in bracket play with back-to-back victories, including a 16-0 win over Team Elite Scout 14U Black and an 8-0 victory against Hawaii Elite 2G 14U Black, ZT National Prospects have continued to showcase why they entered the week as one of the premier teams in the tournament. The roster is loaded with talent, including six players ranked among the top 50 players nationally in the 2030 class, but the team’s success has come from much more than individual achievements. In the opening bracket game on Tuesday, nine different players drove in runs as ZT National rolled to a 16-run victory. With the high school season being in the rearview mirror and the summer circuit firing on all cylinders at this point, we bring to you the Final High School Top 50. The familiar faces still litter the top-50 in this update we get to crown a National Champion in Kentucky’s own Trinity. They rattled off 24 straight wins to claim their second straight state title. The 2026 spring saw the Shamrocks saw them dominate in-state competition as well as beat top level talent from out of state including wins over state champions from California and Florida.
