High School Top 50 Update: March 3

As we get rolling deeper into the spring here in the southern states, other states are only a few weeks away from their seasons beginning and some are even starting the day this will be posted. We’ve concluded the first major event on the high school schedule, the PG High School Showdown, and it was an epic weekend in Hoover. The event was littered with talent and these rankings reflect just that.

St. John Bosco (CA) holds onto the first spot in this update and are being pushed by an IMG Academy (FL) team that’s 8-0 after winning the High School Showdown as well as beating two preseason top-10 teams in the first few weeks of the season. Orange Lutheran (CA) holds onto the No. 3 spot after a 1-0 start to the year and just a few weeks away from NHSI. A trio of Florida schools follow Olu in South Walton (FL), fresh off a win at the HS Showdown, Venice (FL), a surging team littered with talent, and Tampa Jesuit (FL), one of the nation’s top pitching staffs. Corona (CA) jumps into the top-10 after a huge start to the season, rattling off 4 straight wins including a win over a T50 team in the nation. Trinity Christian Academy (FL) holds firm in the top-10 and we also welcome a pair of other teams into the top-10 in Magnolia Heights (MS) and Trinity (KY).

We welcome in three new teams in this early season update with many more new names to jump into the mix as the spring unfolds. Buford (GA) makes their first appearance in the High School Top 50, debuting at No. 21 in this update after a dominant opening to the year. Christopher Columbus (FL) jumps to No. 37 after a strong start including a win over Stoneman Douglas a week ago and North Paulding (GA) debuts at No. 43 after an 8-2 start including a three-game set against Etowah in their first region series of the year.

There is sure to be more movement up-and-down throughout the spring as these teams roll even deeper into the year, along with some others getting going in the coming weeks. We will be here throughout the whole spring providing updates at the national and state levels so make sure to follow along for your next top-50 update coming soon.

Southeast Memorial Day East Cobb Baseball will welcome more than 100 teams spanning the 13-17u age groups this weekend as summer baseball gets underway with the highly anticipated PG Southeast Memorial Day Classic, commencing on Thursday, May 21st. May 19th Perfect Game/Co-Players of the Week: Carson Tinney, C, Texas The Texas Longhorns just finished off another stellar regular season and are heading to Hoover for the SEC Conference Tournament as the No. 2 Seed this week. To secure their 2nd place finish, they had to sweep Missouri at home last weekend and did so in large part to the power bat of Carson Tinney. The 6-4/240 catcher from Castle Pines, CO transferred to Austin after two sensational seasons at Notre Dame and has thrived in his draft year.
