Coastal Region Scout Notes

17U PG WWBA Coastal Champions Cup

Parker Davis (’26, SC) delivered in a big way for Canes American 17U, walking it off to win the championship while also dominating on the mound earlier in the tournament. The 6-foot-1, 160-pound left-hander threw 2.0 innings in relief, striking out 5 and allowing just 1 hit with no earned runs. His fastball touched 88 mph with late arm-side run, and he paired it with a sharp breaking ball that he used to miss barrels. Davis plays with high energy and confidence, showing two-way value with a strong competitive edge. The uncommitted southpaw has serious upside with his mound presence and swing-and-miss arsenal.

Cason McGinnis (’26, NC) showed off his polished hit tool for South Charlotte Panthers 2026 Marucci, going 5-for-8 across three games with 4 RBIs, a double, 4 runs, 2 walks, a hit-by-pitch, and a stolen base. The 5-foot-11, 170-pound shortstop hits in the 3-hole and brings controlled aggression at the plate, consistently driving balls to the pull side with authority. He has advanced feel to hit and sticks to his approach. McGinnis is uncommitted and continues to prove he’s a next-level talent with strong two-way potential.

Heath Klingensmith (2026 | New London, NC)

Heath Klingensmith (’26, NC) was unhittable for South Charlotte Panthers 2026 Marucci, throwing 4.0 no-hit innings with 6 strikeouts and 3 walks. The 6-foot-3, 220-pound right-hander sat 87-89 mph and touched 90, mixing in a big breaking curveball (66-70), a tight slider (73-76), and a firm changeup (83 mph). He sequenced pitches effectively and consistently missed barrels. Klingensmith has a big-time presence on the mound and projects well moving forward. The uncommitted righty has size, power, and pitchability that make him a name to know.

Beckett Howie (’26, NC) a Campbell commit, was highly effective for the On Deck O’s 2026, tossing 5.0 innings with 10 strikeouts while allowing 8 hits and 3 earned runs. The 6-foot-2, 190-pound right-hander filled up the zone (67% strikes) with an 88-90 mph fastball and a sharp slider (74-78). He shows great maturity on the mound with clean sequencing and a feel for swings. Howie consistently gets swing-and-miss and looks the part of a future weekend arm.

Teagan Jordan (’26, NC) was sharp on the mound for CBA 2026 National, tossing 5.0 innings of three-hit baseball while striking out 9 and walking none. The 5-foot-10, 180-pound lefty sat 83-85 mph with his fastball, mixing in a changeup (74-76), slider (73-75), and curveball (69-72). He showed command of all four pitches and worked efficiently in the zone (65% strikes). Jordan is uncommitted and projects well with his advanced pitchability and clean mechanics. A southpaw with polish and high upside.

Anthony Marano (’26, SC) was dominant on the mound, throwing 6.0 innings of two-hit, shutout baseball for CBA 2026 National. The 6-foot-2, 189-pound righty struck out 11 and walked just 1, pounding the zone with 71% strikes. He ran his fastball up to 87 mph and effectively mixed in a changeup (81-82) and slider (74-78) to keep hitters off balance. Marano shows maturity and competitiveness, and as an uncommitted arm, he has the tools to make a big impact at the next level.

Will DeVinney (’26, FL) impressed with his mound presence and projection, going 5.0 innings with 6 strikeouts, 4 hits, and just 1 earned run. The 6-foot-7, 215-pound right-hander used his long levers to create downhill angle and missed barrels consistently. His fastball sat 84-87 mph with late life, and he paired it with a tight slider (73-76) that he could land in the zone. DeVinney is uncommitted and has massive upside with his frame, feel, and pitch development.

Jack Woda (’26, FL) showed well behind the plate and in the box for Canes American 17U. The 5-foot-10, 185-pound East Carolina commit went 2-for-5 across two games with a double, two RBIs, a run scored, and a walk. He showed the ability to stay through the ball and use the middle of the field while also flashing pull-side pop on elevated pitches. Defensively, Woda is steady and vocal, handling his team with confidence.

Brady Marconi (’26, NC) had a huge showing on championship day for South Charlotte Panthers 2026 Marucci. The 6-foot-3, 205-pound catcher/third baseman and College of Charleston commit went 3-for-5 over two games with a double, triple, home run, two RBIs, three runs, and a walk. He swings with violence and intent, showing easy lift and home run power to the pull side. Marconi is a tough, toolsy bat who thrives in big moments and provides steady defense behind the plate or at the corners.

Harrison Ailshie (’26, NC) swung it well for South Charlotte Panthers 2026 Marucci, going 3-for-6 over two games with three RBIs, two runs scored, a walk, and a stolen base. The UNC commit brings an athletic frame and a clean, direct path to the baseball. He creates barrel whip and consistently finds loud contact. Ailshie is an advanced hitter who makes quality adjustments and produces in pressure spots.

Joshua Mozingo (’26, NC) continued to swing a hot bat, going 2-for-3 with a walk and reaching base three times. The 6-foot, 160-pound uncommitted right-hander is hitting .462 this summer with a 1.255 OPS, showing strong plate discipline and quick hands. He consistently puts together quality at-bats and brings speed and energy to the lineup. Mozingo is an uncommitted gamer who continues to raise his stock with every showing.

Cooper Raniszeski (2029 Charlotte, NC) got the start on the mound today for the SBA 14U Select Southeast. The 6-3/175 right-handed pitcher has a tall athletic build with plenty of projection to dream on. Raniszeski threw from a slightly below ¾ arm slot with good arm side sinking run on his fastball ranging 72-76mph. The right-handed hurler displayed command, living on the corners and maintaining leverage in the count against most hitters. Working from the left side of the rubber, he used a high leg kick to go with a drop-down slider at 60mph that proved to be a timing issue for the opponents. The intriguing prospect threw a complete game, giving up only 5 hits and 1 run while compiling 8 Ks on 62% strikes.

Max Trojanowski (2028 Chapel Hill, NC) swung a hot bat for SBA 14u Select Southeast, with loud contact most of the weekend. The 6-0/190 right-handed third baseman has a large athletic build with the look of a power hitting corner infielder long term. Employing a balanced stance with his hands off the back shoulder and a good launch position, he was on time for any fastball he might have seen. Trojanowski has a short compact swing with minimal leg lift allowing him to use all parts of the field. He finished the day going 2-3 with a 2B and HR with 2 RBI’s and will be sure to garner plenty of attention from scouts as his career progresses.

Spencer Evans (2026, Ocoee, FL) got the start on the mound, and the southpaw was impressive in his outing for the Canes American 17U team. The 6-3/180 prospect is a University of Florida commit and Top 300 PG players in the country. He worked from the right side of the rubber with a medium leg lift and methodically worked downhill to the plate. He filled up the zone at a high rate, with 67% strikes, mixing pitches and keeping hitters off balance. Evans’ fastball cruised in the low-90’s while grabbing 93-mph a few times. His breaking ball showed excellent two-plane break, sitting in the mid-70s and proved to be a quality finishing pitch in his repertoire. Evans finished his outing with 4 innings pitched, allowing 1 H, 1 R, 1 ER, 1 BB, and 3 strikeouts.

Corbin King (’27, SC) came up clutch for Dirtbags United 16u in a late comeback win. The 5-11/185 mature catcher found himself at the plate in the 7th inning down a pair of runs. He Is powerful and projectable with an on plane and fluid swing, creating good extension through the ball. He crushed a fastball over the right center field wall for a huge 3 run shot to give his team the lead late. King was solid behind the plate all day showing excellent lateral mobility to block balls in the dirt, preventing free bases and handling the staff with relative ease.

Chase Chavis (’27, SC) had a huge weekend and helped provide a spark for the D.A. Grinderz. The left fielder is a twitchy athlete and with a projectable frame at 6-0/165. He sets up in a wide base and low handset keeping his hands back before unleashing a blur of bat speed. He gets his barrel on plane and can create natural loft that projects power long-term. Chavis finished the tournament with a hit in every game, amassing a .538 AVG and 1.308 OPS with 3 RBIs all told. His footspeed is a factor as well, legging out 3 doubles and 2 SBs with ease, looking fluid and smooth throughout every motion. Chavis is a prospect to follow closely in the coming months.

Brayden Caldwell (’27, NC) had a huge tournament for the Athletes Lab 16u Scout, finishing with a .385 AVG and .556 OBP. The 5-10/165 centerfielder has a solid and emerging frame with present strength and more to come. He uses a medium stance with a nice handset and a consistently direct swing path. His fluid swing affords him nice feel for the bat head, and this allowed him to find barrels throughout the day. He finished Game 1 going 2 for 4 with 3 RBIs and a stolen base. He also scored 1 run, contributing all 4 runs that his team scored in the matchup. Caldwell showed a well-rounded skillset and is an interesting follow as he continues to mature and grow his game.

Terrez Butler (’27, NC) had a fantastic tournament on both sides of the ball for the Regulators Scout 2027. A sturdy frame at 5-11/180, he is powerful in all aspects of the game. Starting with a wider stance, he sits relaxed at the plate, using a quick toe-tap for timing and gets his hands and barrel on plane through contact in a hurry. Butler went 3 for 5 on Saturday, stretching out 2 triples and collecting 3 RBIs. The catcher had a day behind the plate as well as he caught 2 runners stealing with accurate and on time throws and was a wall behind the plate. His lateral mobility and ability to block and recover, shows the work he puts in behind the dish. Butler has the look of a power-hitting catcher long term.

Jacob Seamon (’27, NC) with an incredible showing for the South Charlotte Panthers 2027 Marucci as he would take home the MVP award this weekend. Seamon played DH throughout the weekend and put up an insane stat line. The 6-5/190 utility player is extremely athletic and well-built for his age. His presence at the plate stands out as his length and power is evident for the top player in the state for his class. He is well balanced at the plate and has a smooth, effortless swing through contact. On plane with good direction to his mechanics, Seamon accumulated a ridiculous tournament line of a .733 AVG and 1.923 OPS with 4 BBs, 5 SBs, 9 RBIs and a HR in Game 2. With plenty of room left to fill out his frame, it is scary to project what this prospect will generate from a power standpoint in the coming year.

Odin Ginader (’27, NC) had a lights out performance in hist start on the mound for SBA National Scout 2027. Athletic with a solid frame at 6-0/170, Ginader showcased a fluid and easy arm action on the bump. Throwing from a low ¾ arm angle with an abbreviated arm path, the ball gets out of the hand quick with a deceptive angle towards the plate. His fastball was cruising in the low 80s with his curve and slider sitting in the low 70s. The fastball showed solid run, and his breaking ball typically started in the zone and finishes outside to generate swing and miss. Ginader threw 6.2 innings only allowing 1 hit and striking out 12. He will be a player to keep an eye on after throwing a near complete game shutout, only allowing 2 base runners and inducing nothing but soft contact.

Carter Kelly (’27, SC) had an absolute monster of a tournament for Palmetto Blacksmiths-Faulkner. Kelly is 5-10/175 with a strong, athletic frame, sits into his base well at the plate showing the adjustability to get the barrel on plane with regularity. He finished the tournament with a stunning .615 AVG and 1.590 OPS while also racking up 4 RBIs and a whopping 7 SBs. Kelly is lightning quick around the bags and in the field at shortstop with a fluid arm action and tracks balls well showing advanced feel for angles. Smooth and accurate with the glove, his speed of the game awareness stood out on plays that were less than routine. The future is bright for Kelly as he continues to add physicality to his frame and let his speed be his calling card.

Oliver Van Tiem (’27, NC) showed off his arm strength on the mound while securing a victory for the South Charlotte Panthers 2027 Marucci. The 6-3/193 RHP has a muscular frame with projectable size as uses an abbreviated arm action and accelerates through a high ¾ arm angle. There is natural deception to his delivery as he tunnels his pitches very well deep into the zone. He has a nasty 2 pitch combo with a fastball that sits high 80s and peaking at 89 in addition to a slider that has filthy spin sitting in the low 70s that hitters were unable to solve the entire outing. Van Tiem threw 4 innings on only 58 pitches securing 5 Ks on the way and only giving up 3 hits all day. Van Tiem is an intense competitor and controls the situation when he has the ball on the mound.

Collyn Neff (’27, VA) led 5 Star Carolina 16U National to victory after getting the start on the mound and going the distance. The strapping 6-3/185 righty has power and athleticism in his frame and translates that very well into his pitches. When throwing from the windup he employed a medium arm path and an over-the-top release getting down the mound with excellent extension. His 2-pitch combo consists of a fastball in the low 80s and a curveball in the low 70s. He was consistently in the zone with a strike percent of around 70% and eliminated free passes, while collecting 5 Ks over his 85-pitch outing. Neff repeated his delivery at a high level maintaining a high level of performance and will be an interesting follow for the future.

Leo Lupienski (’27, NC) was virtually untouchable in his start for CBA 2027 Scout. The RHP with a well-developed frame stands at 6-0/185 and uses a simple, repeatable delivery to pound the strike zone. His arm path is clean, and he does a nice job of creating length, power, and direction down the hill. Lupienksi has a fastball sitting in the low 80s that grabbed 85 mph occasionally that jumps on hitters due to excellent extension at release. His secondary pitch is a sweeping slider that sits in the low 70s and was untouchable all day. He threw 4 innings only allowing 1 hit and striking out 6 on the way to leading his team to victory.

Walker Thomason (’27, SC) had a productive start on the mound for 5 Star Carolina 16U National, helping lead them to victory. With a medium arm path and accelerating through a ¾ arm angle, the athletic 6-2/180 righty showed smooth and repeatable delivery all day. He threw 4.1 innings while only giving up 3 and picked up 2 Ks. His fastball showed life, sitting in the low 80s but peaked at 86 mph several times. Thomason was great at changing eye-levels with this pitch setting the stage for a pair of breaking pitches that played very well. With distinctive shapes, his curve sat in the low 70s and a slider in the mid 70s that showed late break to it. Thomason lived in the zone with all three offerings and allowed his team to make routine plays behind him. Thomason is ranked at SS and will be worth a follow on the mound as well, making him an intriguing two-way prospect.

13u World Series Notes: Days 1-2

Perfect Game Staff
Article Image
Michael Wedgeworth (2030, Flomaton, AL) had put the two way ability on full display so far this week, dominating from both sides. On the mound Wedgeworth ran the fastball up to 84 (81-83) with ease to the delivery. Broke off a couple nasty curveballs that induced swing and miss, as well as freezing hitters for punch outs. Collected six in his four inning complete game. He also would not be denied at the plate going 3-5 in the first two days with two doubles. Very intriguing young player as the body continues to grow.  Tyler Bellush (2031, Summerville, SC) is a sure handed shortstop for the Canes Nation squad. Swings it from the left side of the plate and the barrel accuracy has really stuck out thus far. 3-4 through the first couple days with a double and two triples, Bellush has also walked twice and collected 3 RBI along the way. Yesterday against USA Prime with the bases loaded,...

Creates quality leverage through the lower half while arriving in strong hitting positions early, allowing the barrel to work with intent through the zone. The blend of power, athleticism, and all-fields impact stood out throughout the event.  Dominic Haigh (2028, South Bend, IN) was one of the most productive hitters at the event, collecting 10 hits while consistently creating pressure on opposing defenses. Joey Cohen
Article Image
After a heavy stretch of early summer looks, our scouting staff felt confident rolling out an updated ‘28 national ranking a couple weeks ago. The evaluation window was packed whether it was with our Memorial Day and Summer Kickoff tournaments, UBC action, Sunshine Showcases, and of course the Junior National Showcase which all provided a deep and diverse look at the class against strong competition. Between fresh game evaluations and updated showcase data, we were able to get a clearer picture of where players stand and more importantly how they’ve progressed. Improvements in strength, athleticism, and overall skill were evident across the board giving our staff real conviction when it came time to shuffle the board. With that in mind, I wanted to highlight a handful of west region prospects who made a strong impression on me this summer and earned a well-deserved jump in...
