Jaxon Appleman, RHP, Edison (N.J.) took the mound on Thursday against Woodbridge to continue an ongoing battle for first place in the conference. The 6-foot-2 right-hander struck out eight over five innings of work while allowing just three hits to the Barrons. The heater got up to 92 mph, sitting comfortably in the 89-90 mph range throughout the duration of his outing. It showed tons of arm-side running life and lived on the outer-third of the strike zone against right-handed hitters. Appelman mixed in his shorter curveball pretty frequently, landing it early and late in counts for multiple empty swings. The breaker was tunneled well, showing sharper movement with abrupt depth.
