High School Showdown Scout Notes: Day 1

Jaxson Wood (2026, Hoover, Ala.) looked the part in the Hoover loss on Friday afternoon, doubling into the pull side gap and making some solid plays at shortstop. The Tennessee commit is a super athletic prospect and is an excellent mover with fluidity and looseness throughout. He can maintain his footwork at shortstop with ease and gets into really good angles to make plays easier. Wood jumped all over an elevated fastball and rocketed it into the pull side gap for an easy standup double. Wood is a super fun ball player and one with a good base of athleticism and tools.
