17u WWBA Scout Notes: Days 6-8

Zach Swanson (2024, Castle Rock, Wash.) and Chase Mobley (2024, Plant City, Fla.) got the call on the mound for Canes National as both combined for a pretty strong effort and the playoff victory.  

Swanson, an Oregon State commit, has excellent size at 6-foot-3, 195-pounds, and checks a lot of boxes of an amateur pitching prospect. He’s got the size and fastball velocity, up to 95 mph and sat mostly in the 90-93 mph range, with a bevy of secondary pitches that were effective. The fastball command was a bit scattered, walking three and giving up four hits, but the velocity was plenty good. The slider was Swanson’s primary secondary pitch and it was very good, living in the 82-85 mph range and showing the ability to land the pitch for strikes. Th
