One BCS National Championship is sweet, but back-to-back is an unprecedented feat that very few can claim.

Nelson Baseball School joined that exclusive club Thursday on the final day of the 18U finale.

After taking home the title last year following an 8-1 record throughout the week, Nelson knew it would be tough to replicate that.

However, a 4-1 mark through its first five games cemented the program in the quarterfinals and two wins away from its second consecutive BCS championship appearance.

Following resounding victories over Premier Baseball Club and NLB American, Nelson was met in the final by a Siege Scout Team who was also entering with a 6-1 mark on the week.

And in the championship game Siege would strike first, with Andy Hernandez making his way around the bases in the top of the third for the first run of the game. However, that would be the final run from Siege until the seventh, as Nelson right-handed pitcher Zach Wieder was nearly untouchable over his complete game - tossing 93 pitches with three strikeouts and two earned runs.

It took until the bottom of the fifth for Nelson to notch its first two runs of the game, with Easton Sears bringing in Matthew Brown and Austin Gurley on a two-run double to center.

Entering the sixth up 2-1, Nelson proved exactly what they’re the reigning BCS champions, scoring five runs in the inning including a two-run single from Brown to bring in Cameron Strader and Timothy Fant

Despite Siege loading the bases in its final inning, Nelson turned two for the final outs of the game to claim its second consecutive 18U title.
