BPA Duo Takes on Junior National

Seth Hernandez and Billy Carlson, class of 2025, are two of the top ranked players in the country and have formed a brotherhood through baseball playing both high school and travel ball together.  

“It's awesome,” Carlson said Tuesday. “We have a brotherhood where we're doing everything together. It's awesome to have [Seth] by my side everywhere I go.”  



This week both players showed up and showed out at the Jr. National Showcase at East Cobb Baseball Complex. The event featured some of the top players in the 2025 class, allowing them to showcase their speed, strength at the plate, fielding, pitching, catching, and in-game play all week long.    

Hernandez, who is a right-handed pitcher, came into the showcase working consistently in the 90-94 mph range and topped out his fastball at 95 mph.  


“It feels good,” Hernandez said about his arm strength. “There's a lot of preparation that goes into it, a lot of work behind the scenes. So when I go out there and perform, it's the best feeling.”   

In his trip to the mound on Wednesday, the righty had a successful outing, facing only six batters and striking out five allowing no hits. In March of 2023, Hernandez was named by Perfect Game and Rawlings to the California Region All High School Underclass 1st Team, and in 2022 was named to the California Region Honorable Mention list.  


Carlson, who is the fourth best shortstop in the country, came out on Monday and topped out his INF velo at 97 mph, putting him in the top 99.98% of his class. He also had a short appearance on the mound, pitching to one batter striking him out and topping out his fastball at 92 mph.  


During the school year, the pair can be found playing high school baseball for the Corona Panthers and over the summer for BPA, the Baseball Performance Academy. 

Aside from their current careers, Carlson and Hernandez both verbally committed to Vanderbilt in the fall of 2022 and will continue their baseball career together, joining the Commodores in 2027.  

“Ever since I was 10-years-old [Vanderbilt] has been my dream school,” Hernandez said. “Seeing them in the College World Series and the coaches too, like Corbin and Baxter, helped make my decision.” 

The duo is set to play at the 17u Ultimate Baseball Championship with BPA and then will travel back to East Cobb for the 17u WWBA National Championship.
