PG Summer Kick Off Scout Notes

Jaylen Payne (2025, Chandler, Ariz.) showcased an impressive skill set with the ability to impact games in a multitude of ways. The leadoff hitter features loose hands with advanced feel for the barrel present. A sound approach consistently works gap to gap and allows for hard hit line drives to be sprayed to all fields. Once on base, plus speed allows Payne to cause havoc with his legs. He will steal bags at a high rate and take extra bases when possible. Payne can set the tone at the top of the order and create runs all on his own. Defensively, the young outfielder has shown advanced range in center field. The routine play is made consistently, along with a fair share of highlight-reel plays. Payne has some of the highest upside in the class and should be a hot uncommitted name this summer.
