Team Sheet: Florida

Vincent Cervino
Players Mentioned: Brandon Sproat, Cade Fisher, Hurston Waldrep, Brandon Neely, Jac Caglianone, Wyatt Langford, Cade Kurland, Josh Rivera, Michael Robertson, Ty Evans

What Happened: Florida showed their offensive prowess as they took two of three from in-state rival Miami in one of the stronger series victories across the country on the young season. Miami was able to take game two but overall got outscored by the Gators by a margin of 30 to 22.

Carrying Tool: Offensive firepower. Wyatt Langford tried to rewrite the single season record books in 2022 and Jac Caglianone is hoping that the ink on those records isn’t dry yet. The duo of Langford and Cags is going to hit for significant power while the lineup overall is super deep.

Concerns: Bullpen. The only arm out of the ‘pen that earned coach Kevin O’Sullivan’s trust on the weekend was true freshman Cade Fisher, who closed out both victories. There are talented pieces here but if you’re a Gators fan you have to hope some of the big contributors from last year regain their form.

Best Player on the Field: Jac Caglianone. Wyatt Langford is an uber-talented and athletic outfielder and has a shot to go first overall in the draft…but he’s not Jac Caglianone. Cags, who has been drawing comps to Shohei Ohtani all year long, already leads the country in home runs and flirts with triple digits from the left side. Caglianone is a unicorn of a prospect with 80 grade raw power, 80 grade batted ball data, and a plus fastball-plus slider combination on the mound.
