OF Drew Burress Houston County Perry Ga.
OF Maxwell Clark Franklin Community Franklin Ind.
OF Dillon Head Homewood Flossmoor Glenwood Ill.
UTL Dylan Cupp Cedartown Cedartown Ga.

Pitcher: Charlee Soto, Reborn Christian Academy (Kissimmee, Fla.)
Soto was a talented two-way prospect coming into his senior circuit, where he put the bat down in favor of becoming a pitcher-only. He didn’t put his glove down, however, and is one of the best athletes on the mound in the country. Soto could likely still go pick it at short, but his low-effort delivery coupled with his athleticism makes him a strong pitcher fielder.

Catcher: Blake Mitchell, Sinton HS (Sinton, Texas)
Mitchell has the best blend of defensive chops and arm strength on the catcher side of this year’s prep class. Mitchell shows very solid receiving and blocking skills with a 70-grade arm that has been into the mid-90s on the bump in the class. Mitchell isn’t only the best defensive catcher in the country, but might be the nation’s best two-way prospect as well.

First Base: Bryce Eldridge, James Madison HS (Vienna, Va.)
Eldridge has massive size at a listed 6-foot-7, 222 pounds but also has really good body control and soft hands at first base. He takes good angles to the bag and can adjust his lead foot when stretching. Eldridge is one of the top two-way players in the class and has clear smooth athletic skill around the bag.

Middle Infield: Roch Cholowsky, Hamilton HS (Chandler, Ariz.)
The recipient of the Rawlings Defensive Player of the Year at the PG All-American Classic, Cholowsky is a shoo-in on this team as one of the more sure-handed defenders on the dirt. It’s smooth actions with an excellent internal clock and a solid arm to stick at short. Cholowsky made shortstop look easy at points during this summer and the glove is very smooth.

Middle Infield: TJ Pompey, Coppell HS (Coppell, Texas)
Pompey is a long and lean 6-foot-4, 185 pounds with plenty of quick-twitch athleticism and a really good glove. He made some ridiculously difficult plays look routine over the summer and his excellent first-step quickness and range give him huge defensive upside.

Middle Infield: Adrian Santana, Doral Academy (Miami, Fla.)
Santana is one of the fastest prospects in the class, as he ran a blazing 6.16 second 60 at PG National, and that quickness allows for some serious range at shortstop. He’s adept at making plays in the six-hole, something that’s aided by his strong arm. The body control and overall range give him an excellent foundation of true shortstop tools.

Third Base: Aidan Miller, Mitchell HS (Trinity, Fla.)
Miller played shortstop for a lot of games over the summer but has spent a good amount of time at third base in the past, a position in which he looks more than comfortable. Miller has the instincts and reactions to excel at the hot corner, controlling his base well and showing lots of comfort to his backhand. He’s got a mid-90s arm too, which will be a left side weapon for him long term.

Outfield: Drew Burress, Houston County HS (Perry, Ga.)
Burress was covering an ocean’s worth of grass during his team’s WWBA World Championship run and is really adept at reading fly balls. He’s got a strong arm and is quick footed as well, but his ability to find the landing spot really allows him to time up dives and defend past his speed. Burress also has a strong arm where he can nail runners, and was no stranger to highlight catches this summer.

Outfield: Maxwell Clark, Franklin Community HS (Franklin, Ind.)
Clark has been atop the national rankings for some time now, and the reason why is he does everything well and makes everything look effortless. It’s a true center field profile with plus speed and has shown a plus arm before. Clark takes long, confident strides to glide down balls with ease and has the look of a prospect who will be patrolling center field for years to come.

Outfield: Dillon Head, Homewood Flossmoor HS (Glenwood, Ill.)
Head is another terrific athlete in this class, running a 6.22 at PG National and showing true center field chops all summer. He’s a really aggressive defender, not being afraid to go all out in either direction to make a big play. Head also has a low-90s arm and is another defender with big tools on this list.

Utility: Dylan Cupp, Cedartown HS (Cedartown, Ga.)
Cupp makes everything look buttery smooth in the infield, routinely making the charge play at short look like he’s done it for years in his sleep. It’s excellent body control with a skill set and baseball acumen that could see him play any skill position on the dirt. Cupp also doesn’t mess up the routine plays and is as automatic as they come at shortstop.

Following a jam-packed week of entertainment at the 17u WWBA Championships, the top nationally ranked program, USA Prime 17u National/Detroit Tigers Scout Team, faced off against Stacked Baseball 17u (No. 80 nationally) in the highly anticipated championship matchup as both teams looked to earn one of the most prestigious titles in all of travel baseball. Each talented squad entered the finale undefeated, but Stacked Baseball continued their dominance throughout the tournament, defeating the Detroit Tigers Scout Team 10-2 in mercy rule fashion to become national champions behind explosive bats and impressive pitching. Stacked Baseball was the overwhelming top team throughout the week as the WWBA Champions outscored opponents by an absurd 117-12 during their 11-0 run. “We got some talented kids, but we played against a little bit of Goliath over there,” Stacked Head Coach Mike...

17u WWBA Scout Notes: Day 1 | Day 2 | Day 3 | Day 4  Day 5 | Day 6 Shea Corona (2027, Brooklyn, N.Y.) showcased some loud stuff out of the bullpen for MLB Breakthrough Series 2027. The New York native and primary shortstop topped out at 93 with the fastball, sitting comfortable in the 90-92 range. Corona paired it with a sharp and tight slider at 81-83, staying on the same plane until late. The pitch plays well already and the delivery is very athletic. The uncommitted right-hander went three scoreless and was in the zone plenty, striking out two while not allowing a walk. '27 SS Moises Gudino (FL) continues to stay red hot, working a long AB & cracking an oppo 2B on the 8th pitch. Every team hopes to start a tournament with momentum, but few make a statement quite like Texas Twelve Maroon 2028. Matched up against defending champion Excel Blue Wave National to kick off their debut in the 2026 Perfect Game National Elite Championship, Texas Twelve Maroon delivered a complete team performance, earning a hard-fought 3-2 victory and immediately establishing themselves as one of the top teams to watch this week. The win showcased the balance that has made Texas Twelve Maroon a powerful team. Strong pitching, timely hitting, and steady defense all played a role as the team held off one of the tournament’s premier programs. Right-hander Ty Antley turned in an outstanding performance on the mound, throwing a complete game while allowing only five hits and two walks over seven innings. Flames Natty used timely hitting and a dominant start from Beau Collier to defeat NLB American 7-3 and capture the 18U BCS National Championship on Monday at Lee Health Sports Complex. Despite being assembled just hours before the tournament began, the Flames quickly developed chemistry throughout the tournament. “This team was put together 12 hours before this tournament, and they went on a crazy run,” head coach Adam Vasquez said. “These kids know each other locally, but they don’t play together. For them to come together last minute like that, it’s crazy. I’m proud of them for that.” The game opened as a pitchers’ duel, with David Acevedo recording the lone hit through the first two innings. NLB American starter Hayden Graham kept the Flames in check early, allowing just one hit while striking out one over 2.0 innings. The right-hander...

Fresh off a state championship for Bading High School, he has picked up where he has left off this spring. It seems that he gets bigger each time I see him, but the frame really works on both sides of the ball at 6-feet, 190-pounds. It’s athletic and the actions on both sides are extremely advanced. Sawyer took home MVP honors after finishing with nine hits, six going for extra bases including two home runs, nine RBIs and eight runs scored. It’s electric at...

Hannah Jo Groves
Article Image
With the start of July comes the start of the 2026 PG National Showcase. Running for five days, the best of the Class of 2027 will come together in Miami’s LoanDepot Park to update their metrics and show their progress in game situations against top-tier talent.  45 out of the top-50 players in the class of 2027 will be in attendance - including all top-5 players, Dylan Seward, Chase Fuller, Kinon Bastian, Connor Salerno and Carter Hadnot.  Vice president of scouting operations at Perfect Game, Jered Goodwin, said the fact that so many of the top-ranked guys have prioritized this event is telling. "When you talk about 45 out of 50, you see how many kids across the country want to go in and compete to see where they stand and what they need to improve on," Goodwin explained. "When you have those types of numbers of kids coming in and wanting to compete at the same place...

16u Elite Scout Notes: Days 1-2

Noah Harris (2028, Savannah, Ga.) has been swinging it well for CBU down in Hoover, driving in seven runs on three hits through just two days of action. He has a single, double, triple and three runs scored across a couple of games. The 6-foot-3 lefty hitter uses a consistent timing mechanism in the box with excellent leverage generated at impact, oftentimes from gap to gap. He wears a lean athletic build with plenty of projection and plus speed that makes him a serious threat on the basepaths. Harris has proven that he can hit for contact and power at the plate, making for a tough out against any arm. #Uncommitted ‘28 Evan Hedlund (AZ) pitching lights out for @ShowTime_Select; 7 Ks thru 3 IP thus far. "Why not us?" Canes MW Take 14u WWBA

Kinley Kitchens
Article Image
Every championship team has an identity. For Canes Midwest 14U National, it could be summed up in three simple words. "Why not us?" That became the team’s motto throughout the week, and by championship day, the players had turned those words into reality. Canes Midwest capped off a memorable tournament with a 8-4 victory over Canes National 14U, finishing an undefeated 11-0 run over six days while proving they belonged among the nation’s top teams. It was a championship built on timely hitting, dominant defense, relentless grit, and a belief that never wavered. For Coach Steiner, the title represented far more that simply winning another tournament. “It has been an unbelievable experience for us,” Steiner said. “Some people call us a mid-major, so I guess we are now solidified as being one of the top programs in the country.” That belief carried the...
