Uncommitted right-hander Eli Derossi-Cytron (2024, Frederick, Md.) got the weekend rolling on the bump for the Mid-Atlantic Dirtbags Anchor Down squad, tossing seven shutout innings throwing close to 70% strikes as he needed only 94 pitches to go the distance. Displaying advanced pitchability, the Frederick Maryland native landed all four pitches for strikes repeatedly throughout his start, consistently changing speeds as he held hitters off balance. Collecting seven punchouts over his seven innings of work, Derossi-Cytron went to his two breaking balls early in counts, before raising their eye level with an elevated fastball. Sitting in the 82-85 mph range for the majority of his outing, Derossi-Cytron used his long levers to create a tough downhill angle as he worked both sides of the plate. Throwing both a slider and curveball, Derossi-Cytron’s slider showed horizontal tilt with tight breaker while his curveball displayed sharp, 12-6 shaped break. Working exclusively from the stretch with a drop-and-drive lower half, Derossi-Cytron didn’t wasn’t any movement, coming right down the mound.
