Sammy Petrocelli (2024, Los Angles, Calif.) threw a gem in his start for Legacy Baseball Club on Thursday. The big right-hander was working in the upper-80s early on as he punched out three in the first inning, moving the heater around the zone and changing the eye level of hitters. He generated some arm-side action on the two-seam and was able to locate the four-seam down to the glove side when he needed to. On his second trip through the top of the order he mixed in his other three pitches more, with two distinct breaking balls and changeup that he could throw for strikes. The curveball worked with more depth in the upper-60s while the slider showed more horizontal actions in the mid-70s. He did a nice job turning over a changeup at 73-74 mph with arm-side fade that paired well with the fastball showing good change of pace.
