14u World Series Scout Notes: Day 1

A two-time Select Festival alum already, right-hander Cooper Shrum (2026, Belton, Mo.) was handed the ball for the first game of pool play for the KC Crusaders and the young Tennessee commit went about his business as we’ve already grown accustomed to seeing. The frame and sheer length of Shrum immediately jumps out as he toes the rubber, listed at a very long 6-foot-3, 160 pounds and despite the combination of size and age, the athleticism is able to shine as the future Vol does a nice job of repeating his operation pitch-to-pitch, allowing for a bevy of strikes. As is the case with most arms who throw early in the tournament, Shrum was on a strict pitch count to ensure his return later in the tournament as he finished just shy of 4 innings pitched, punching out 3 without issuing a walk while scattering 4 weaker base knocks over his appearance.
