Jonah Burchfield (2024, Maryville, Tenn.) is a 6-foot-1, 165-pound left-hander that got the ball for No Chance Gold on the opening day of the Knoxville Invitational. The fastball wasn’t overpowering, getting up to 79 mph but he showed the ability to consistently miss barrels with the pitch. The heater had some late arm-side run on it which came from the three-quarters slot. He also showed the ability to land the 1-7 shaped breaking ball for strikes which kept hitters honest at the plate. The frame is lean with tons of room for growth and he knows how to use his long levers to create extension out front. The uncommitted arm went four innings, only allowed three hits, and struck out three. Really nice performance to get No Chance Gold off to a good start with a 9-2 win.
