Boston Kellner, RHP, Class of 2025
College Commitment: Louisville

Kellner served as the first ever participant in the Select Festival to call Minnesota home prior to a family move that took them to Colorado, from where he again served as the first selection from his new state. Now settled in The Centennial State, Kellner has new home on his mind as he recently committed to the University of Louisville though he has a few years still until he’ll be packing again. The young right-hander looks the part of a future power armed pitching prospect at an already physical 6-foot, 170 pounds and he has the arsenal on the mound to match, showing some real swing-and-miss stuff on the bump. In our most recent look Kellner was sharp before the skies opened up in West Palm, sitting comfortably in the mid-80s during the WWBA Freshman World Championship while working ahead in the count with his heater. Perhaps his biggest calling card however is his very real feel for spinning the baseball and it was once again on display as he snapped off a couple of tight, late biting curveballs in the low-70s which he tunneled nicely out of the hand.

Outlook for the Class:
It’s not uncommon for the Cardinals to hit the ground running and lock up some of the top young talent early in the recruiting process and the 2025 class is no exception as Kellner becomes their sixth commit in the crop already. Kellner is the first from outside the immediate area for Louisville as the other commits come from Kentucky (2), Indiana (2) and Illinois, but the right-hander is a ‘cornerstone of a class” type arm and plenty worthy of the coaching staff making the trek out as he also becomes their top-ranked recruit in the class at No. 17. It’s clear the coaching staff is collecting quality athletes in the early going and it won’t be shocking by any means when they continue to add premium names to the class over the next couple of years.
