The Jayhawk Conference sophomore showcase has been a running tradition amongst Kansas JUCO’s for decades now, taking place every non-COVID fall like clockwork, and attracting scores of college recruiters and professional scouts at the same time. This was the first year that Perfect Game was involved, and it’s this evaluator’s perspective that nothing could have possibly gone better from an organizational and procedural point of view, and we surely cannot wait to be back next year.

The event was broken into two days, with the East half of the conference working out on one day, with the West clubs following on Day 2. Each day was broken into two portions as well, with the showcase portion taking place in the morning followed by an extended, showcase-controlled all star game each day. This scouting notebook is meant to highlight several of the names who stood out to us throughout the game portion of the two days.

Johnson County’s Quinton Hall has been on the radar coming out JUCO for a minute now, and heads into the 2022 season looking to continue making his mark as an impact player and potential high D-I player. Hall has good size and length to his frame and the makings of significant power. He has the arm strength to play right field, where he likely ends up long term as he continues to fill out, and it’s really easy to see the projection his frame and bat speed combining to give him plus power long term. He’s a decent runner, clocking 7.18 seconds in the 60, though his speed plays well once underway and he’s in no danger of being a base-clogger type of runner.
