Fall National Championship Scout Notes: Day 1


Dean West (2023, Woodland Hills, Calif.) has a rare combination of speed and power to his game as is reflected by his overall No. 16 ranking in the nation. The UCLA commit got into two balls to the pull side showing what he is capable of when he gets the bat head out front. In his last at-bat of the day he drove a ball deep to right clearing the right fielder and one-hopping the wall as he cruised into third with a triple, putting some of his 6.50 speed on display as he glided around the bags. In the field he played a confident center field allowing his plus speed to close on balls after showcasing his ability to make reads and get jumps on balls hit to the left or right of him.
