13u, 14u BCS Championship Scout Notes: Day 1 & 2

Dominic Woodward (2025, Tampa, Fla.) is capable of capturing one’s eye quickly as he walks to the plate, listed at a long and lean 6-foot-1 though he appears even taller, and despite his length and size combo -something that’s easy for young players to get mistimed with when controlling long levers- the young left-handed hitter has put together quite the tournament thus far. Currently ranked No. 104 in the country, Woodward is hitting a robust .714 through five games of pool play, connecting for six singles and four doubles, though it’s scary to think his best days are still ahead of him.

During his team’s second game of a doubleheader Monday afternoon Woodward went 2-for-2 with a pair of a singles and a walk, showing off his bat-to-ball skills. He uses his length very well in his swing, generating extension out front with very good separation as well and it’s only a matter of time before the ball starts going a long way off the barrel. In his first at-bat of the afternoon Woodward promptly line a single into right field on the first strike he saw, showing the aforementioned coordination and balance in his swing. He muscled his second hit of the game into right field again as he pulled the barrel in tight on an inner half fastball and dumped yet another base knock in, continuing to raise batting average on the tournament.
