After giving up four runs in the first two innings, Game Ready Training 14u Black woke up the bats and went on to score nine unanswered runs, winning their first-round contest 11-4 versus GRB Rays MKE Green. Although they did mash 12 hits during the game, the real standout performance came from Game Ready’s starting pitcher, Grant Sorensen (2025, West Des Moines, Iowa). After giving up four runs in the first two innings, Sorensen buckled down and was lights out for the remainder of the game, tossing five shutout innings. The right-hander sat 70-74 mph and struck out seven opposing batters while walking only two. He was quite efficient during his outing, throwing just 98 pitches in seven innings. He lands a bit closed on the foot strike and creates some angle by throwing across his body and coming from an over-the-top slot. Sorensen has a short and quick arm action that comes through clean, and he consistently challenged hitters in the zone. He would throw a curveball in the low-60s on occasion, but he found most of his success by mixing locations with his fastball.
