As state titles are being won and playoff runs are being made in many places around the country, we have a good bit of movement within the Top 50 this week and it starts at the top as Barbe (La.) put together one of the best playoff runs in Louisiana history to take home the 5A state title and position themselves atop the national rankings with just about a month to go in the national high school season. Their 11-inning semifinal win over Sam Houston (La.) was one for the history books and their 39-2 record matches their best in program history.

As a result, IMG Academy (Fla.) falls a spot to No. 2 while the red-hot Eaglets of OLSM (Mich.) move up to No. 3 as they continue their dominance, moving to 30-1 on the year. Thousand Oaks (Calif.) continues to show as the best team on the West Coast as they move to 22-0 on the year while Stoneman Douglas (Fla.) bumps up to No. 5 after punching their ticket to the state Final Four in Florida’s 7A classification after an exciting finish to their win over Palm Beach Gardens in the regional finals. Handful of movers in the rest of the Top 10 as Madison Central (Miss.) slides up to No. 7 as they near a state title in Mississippi, Lake Travis (Texas) moves up to No. 8 as they work through the playoffs in Texas, Orange Lutheran (Calif.) jumps all the way up to No. 9 from 13 straight wins and Jackson Prep (Miss.) gets to No. 10 after winning their state title in one of the private school classifications in Mississippi.

JSerra (Calif.) stays red-hot as well with 15 straight wins, most of which are in the Trinity League, and move up to No. 13, with a matchup against Orange Lutheran looming next week, while Heritage Hall (Okla.) is another big riser up to No. 18 after claiming their state title over the weekend. No. 26 Auburn (Ala.) is into the state finals against Hoover and can claim Alabama’s top title with a pair of wins this week, while No. 30 Trinity (Ky.) is now at 28-1 and looks like the team to beat in the state of Kentucky.

Five new teams join the rankings this week starting with the returning Parkview (Ga.) at No. 42, as they swept their state semifinals last night and hold a spot in the state championship in Georgia. Berkeley Prep (Fla.) comes in at No. 43 as they’re knocking off tough competition in the playoffs in Florida after a strong regular season, Jenks (Okla.) comes in No. 47 after winning a good state title in Oklahoma, Alhambra (Ariz.) checks in at No. 48 after knocking off former top-10 team Hamilton to earn a berth in the state finals in Arizona and Charlotte Christian (N.C.) joins the rankings once again after claiming a state title in the state of North Carolina.
