Chase Mobley (2024, Plant City, Fla.) came into the event as a name that was already well-known across the country as a long and projectable right-hander with good upside. What he displayed in his three perfect innings of work was one of the most impressive showings you’ll see out of a 14-year-old prospect. Working 88-90, and topping out at 91 mph, Mobley showed exceptionally improved command from what we have seen in the past as he consistently got over his front side and worked downhill to the outer half of the plate. He’s showing much less effort to his release which has enhanced his command, but the improved arm speed and added strength in the lower half is what is generating the added velocity and overall life to the stuff. The breaking ball is still a developing pitch, but there’s great components there and he’s really able to be successful with just the fastball given its caliber versus this age of competition.
