College Top 25: March 29

Another exciting weekend of college action left us with some shake-ups in the top-five. Previous top-five teams Mississippi State and Florida fall far after being swept in their respective SEC series’ against Arkansas and South Carolina. The Bulldogs dropped three in a row at home to the Hogs, while the Gamecocks defended their home turf and swept the Gators, re-entering the Top 25 at No. 16 during the process. As such, Texas Tech and Louisville climb to Nos. 4 and 5 respectively to give the top-five some Non-SEC flavor for the first time since the preseason.

Other climbers include Tennessee, who joins the top-10 after a massive sweep against LSU. The Tigers were the only team to fall out of the rankings this week following their 0-3 weekend effort against the Volunteers. Arizona came out on top against Oregon in a ranked Pac-12 weekend matchup as the Wildcats were finally able to knock Oregon down a peg and appear to be getting hot at the right time.

The Big 12 in particular is beginning to shape up into a three-team race at the top with Texas Tech, Texas, and TCU all being around the top-10. Tech took care of business with a home sweep of USF while Texas was able to take two of three from Oklahoma. TCU might have had the most impressive win, however, with a series sweep of Baylor, in which the Frogs’ pitching staff absolutely shut down the Bears offense. The only team to enter following the weekend was the aforementioned Gamecocks, as much of the major conferences are experiencing some degrees of chaos from top to bottom.
