Capital City Bombers 2025 defeated Prodigy Baseball - Teal 11-0 in the PG Midwest Grand Opening

BELTON, Mo. - Prodigy Baseball-Teal leadoff hitter Easton Phillippe led off the game with a single to right field, but other than a hit-by-pitch in the top of the fourth inning, no other hitter reached base against the Capital City Bomber pitching staff.

The Capital City Bombers 2025 claimed the PG Grand Opening Championship in the process, capping off a weekend where the team went 4-0 and outscored their opponents 52-6 in an impressive showing.

Tournament MV-Pitcher Cole Pladson threw four innings in the championship game, allowing just the one hit and no runs while striking out five.

The Capital City Bombers scored their first run of the game in the bottom of the first when tournament MVP Max Huston scored on an RBI groundout by Cooper Grace.

Pladson struck out two in the top of the second inning before a big five-run frame by the Capital City Bombers in the bottom of the second. Hunter Higgins was hit by a pitch to lead off the inning, later coming around to score on an RBI single by LJ Deniz. Huston singled in another run two batters later and promptly advanced to second on a pass ball, then stole third base before coming around to score for the second time in the game on an error. Deacon Pomeroy had the only extra-base hit in the inning with a double to right field but ended the inning stranded on third as Prodigy-Teal Pitcher Tyler Schaefer was able to record a strikeout to get out of the inning.

In the bottom of the third, the Capital City Bombers added two more runs on a two-run double by Huston to score both Eli Dean and Higgins.

Pladson recorded his second single of the game in the bottom of the fourth inning with a line drive to center field and later came around to score one of his team's three runs that inning, a frame that included also included singles from Higgins, Dean and an RBI single from Deniz.

Grace came in to pitch the top of the fifth for the Capital City Bombers and faced the minimum, needing only eight pitches to do so. After retiring the leadoff hitter on a pop out to second base and the second hitter of the inning on one pitch with a groundout to third base, Grace showed his fastball/curveball combo versus the last batter of the game, eventually getting a groundout to first base to end the game.
