HOUSTON, Texas -- A dominant first inning was more than enough for GBG San Diego 14u to run away with the title at the PG Super Regional NIT in Houston, Texas on Monday by a score of 15-7.

The GBG offense hung a 10-spot on the scoreboard in the top of the first frame, with nine hits coming between seven hitters – Benjamin Gudoy, Ryan Holmes, Steve Cabral, Jase DeSantis, Riley Brown, Tyler Wick, and Tate Southisene. Gudoy and Cabral both had two hits in the inning.

BPA 14u scored four runs in the bottom of the inning, but five more runs from GBG in the 5th inning put the game away for good.

Angel Laya started on the mound with that comfortable lead for GBG and earned the win with four strikeouts over four innings pitched, with William Hernandez securing the championship in the fifth inning.

Seven players had at least one RBI for GBG – Cabral (2), Southisene (1), Holmes (3), Gudoy (2), DeSantis (2), Khalyl Perez (1), and Hernandez (2).

It was a dominant run for GBG San Diego 14u, who cruised through their pool 4-0, and put on some of the best playoff baseball of the weekend with big-time offensive wins over talented rosters in Cangelosi Sparks 2025 (7-1 final score) and Wow Factor 14u National (13-1).

DeSantis was well-deserving of being named the MVP of the tournament for GBG, racking up 10 runs, 12 hits, 3 doubles, 2 triples, 9 RBI and 3 stolen bases.

MV-Pitcher was awarded to Gavin Parrow of BPA 14u. Parrow was an asset in two key wins for BPA. In six innings pitched, Parrow collected an impressive 10 punch outs and allowed just 3 hits.
