Another weekend of college baseball is in the books and with the No. 1 team in the country losing its weekend series for the second week in a row, we have a new top team in the land. The Louisville Cardinals ascend to the No. 1 start following their 6-1 start and second consecutive series victory over Western Illinois. Louisville has one of the most potent offenses in the country and has seen a scorching start from catcher Henry Davis, who’s a first-round candidate in July’s draft.

The rest of the top-five is full of the usual suspects as No. 2 Florida bounced back from losing their opening weekend series to sweep Samford at home and No. 3 Arkansas battled through some early-series competitiveness to also complete their home sweep of Southeastern Missouri. No. 4 is Ole Miss, the former No. 1 team who dropped their home series to UCF while No. 5 is Vanderbilt, who has opened with just one loss on the season.

The rest of the Top 25 features most of the former teams in the rankings, with No. 10 Georgia Tech being the top riser in the country following their ranked sweep of now No. 24 North Carolina State. Newcomers to the Top 25 include No. 16 South Carolina and No. 25 Florida Atlantic. South Carolina is off to a hot start with a 6-0 opening and a blazing start for Golden Spikes candidate Wes Clarke, while the Owls are 6-1 and coming off a sweep last weekend, while true freshmen Nolan Schanuel and Caleb Pendleton are swinging the stick with an impressive offense overall. Heading into Week 3, we have some very intriguing matchups along with the Big Ten opening its season in what should make for an exciting week of play.
