13u Select Festival Roster Preview

Photo: Masa Chilcutt (Perfect Game)
This upcoming Labor Day weekend marks the second iteration of the 13u PG Select Festival and a year after the inaugural game was held in Norman, we move things to Oklahoma City as the Chickasaw Bricktown Ballpark will play host to 32 of the best 13u eligible players from across the country. Broken up between East and West, the future looks bright as these 32 players were selected from a variety of Perfect Game tournaments or showcases throughout the year, including the first ever 13u National Showcase held in Sanford, Florida this past July.

East

Dillon Adkins, OF, 2025
6-0/165, L-L, Leonardtown, MD
Travel Team: Canes National

Adkins played up for the majority of the summer at the 14u level, though given his size and skillset he blended in among the older competition nicely. A 7.09 runner who showed off his arm strength during the 14u National Showcase, Adkins possesses a long and loose lefthanded stroke with which he gets on plane nicely and can work the ball to all fields as evidenced by his performance this summer.

Luis Almeyda, IF, 2025
6-2/175, R-R, Hawthorne, NJ
Travel Team: Real Ballers

Almeyda was a standout during the inaugural 13u National Showcase, literally given his high waisted 6-foot-2 frame, as well as from a talent standpoint on both sides of the ball. An advanced defender with bounce to his step and ultra-athletic actions, Almeyda’s hands play extremely well at the ball and there’s plenty of arm strength too. Offensively it’s a gap-to-gap approach for Almeyda, showing looseness to his hands and big time power potential.

Jax Bishop, RHP/OF, 2025
6-0/145, R-R, Rome, GA
Travel Team: East Cobb Astros

There’s real upside on the mound for the young righthanded Bishop, showing one of the quicker arms in the class already which has produced a top fastball of 85 mph. Thanks to his lower release point, Bishop is able to generate heavy sinking life to his arm side while mixing a late sweeping slider to keep hitters uncomfortable and off balance. On top of his pitching prowess, Bishop also hit .522 on the summer with extra-base strength and 11 stolen bags.

Samuel Cozart, RHP, 2025
6-6/225, R-R, High Point, NC
Travel Team: South Charlotte Panthers

The lone returnee from last year’s 13u Select Festival, the 6-foot-6, 225 pound Cozart continues to elevate his game, putting up big numbers while playing against competition upwards of three years older. Cozart doesn’t look like your typical 13u arm, nor does he throw like one already running his fastball up to 89 mph with a sense of ease and balance, filling the strike zone. And if the velocity isn’t enough, he already shows a feel for a pair of breaking balls along with a changeup, all of which he can throw for strikes.

Aiden Harris, IF/RHP, 2024
6-3/195, R-R, Midlothian, VA
Travel Team: Richmond Braves

Harris will quickly catch your eye with his long limbed and athletic 6-foot-3, 195 pound frame and his overall level of play will continue to draw you in. A primary shortstop, Harris moves well to the ball with his footwork and possesses plenty of arm strength as we’ve seen whenever he takes the mound, already bumping 86 mph. His righthanded swing already shows plenty of strength at impact to all fields as well as a feel for the barrel as his .441 average suggests.

Coy James, RHP/IF, 2025
6-0/145, R-R, Advance, NC
Travel Team: Canes National

While it’s still early in his career, James is already showing the makings of two-way potential which will only continue to develop with added strength. On the mound he works with a clean and simple operation, running his fastball up to 82 mph with a lower effort release, though it’s his ability to spin a 12-6 shaped breaker and consistently land it for strikes that pops. Offensively his hands are quick and he shows a nice handle for the barrel this summer despite playing up an age group.

Adrian Jimenez, IF, 2024
5-8/154, R-R, Sugar Hill, GA
Travel Team: Team Elite National

Jimenez proved to be a consistent player throughout the summer, hitting for both average and power (four home runs) while employing a gap-to-gap approach with impressive strength coming off. Balance is a trait that shows on both sides of Jimenez’s game, both in the box and up the middle as he rounds the ball well with quick, athletic footwork and shows clean actions with the glove out front, providing a well-rounded skillset.

Jacob Kendall, IF, 2025
5-10/140, L-R, Jacksonville, FL
Travel Team: 5 Star

Anytime a player finishes a season with an average north of .500 it’s safe to say they can hit and that holds true for Kendall who has done so each of the last two years, including a .517 average this summer. The lefthanded swing of Kendall is loose and fluid through the zone, showing an advanced approach and timing at the plate as well as the makings of strength at the point of contact. His athleticism shows up on defense as well with balance clean glove skill.

Micah Matthews, OF, 2025
6-2/180, R-R, Bridgewater, VA
Travel Team: Team Elite National

Matthews doesn’t look like your typical 13u player with a strongly built 6-foot-2, nor does he play like one with tools that stood out at the 13u National. His 7.01 in the 60-yard ranked among the best and it’s easy to project upon his power potential thanks to the easy bat speed he generates through the zone. There’s both lift and intent in the swing and his speed has proven to play both on the bases and in the outfield.

Chase Mobley, RHP, 2024
6-4/175, R-R, Plant City, FL
Travel Team: TBT Ballers | College Commitment: Florida State

Mobley recently made his verbal commitment to nearby Florida State and while the young righthander already shows quality stuff, his future is plenty bright. Standing with a long and ultra-projectable 6-foot-4 frame, Mobley already creates some of the better velocity at the 13u level already thanks to a short and quick arm action, lighting up the radar gun with relative ease. There's undoubtedly more velocity in the tank to unlock though his present arsenal is already impressive.

Ethan Murray, IF, 2024
6-0/156, R-R, Buford, GA
Travel Team: East Cobb Astros

Murray offers near limitless projection on his long and lean 6-foot, 156 pound frame though you don’t have to look too far into the future to see what he brings to the table. A consistent offensive performer over the years, Murray also shows excellent strength in his wrists and hands as part of his long and loose righthanded swing that produced seven home runs this summer. He’s a primary shortstop with looseness to his lower half and his athleticism provides versatility on defense.

Erik Parker, RHP/IF, 2024
6-2/175, R-R, Snellville, GA
Travel Team: Meridian Panthers | College Commitment: South Carolina

One of a handful of young 2024 grads in the 13u event, Parker’s frame would easily blend into an upperclass lineup right now with broad shoulders and a high waisted 6-foot-2 frame. There’s significant upside on the mound as his arm speed stands out, as does his arm strength as he has already been up to 85 mph while showing a feel for his curveball as well. A 6.90 runner, Parker moves well on his feet up the middle and shows a short, compact stroke at the plate

Xavier Rivera, C, 2024
5-9/155, R-R, Cayey, PR
Travel Team: 5 Star Orlando

Like a couple of other players above, Rivera’s skills stood out at the 14u National Showcase on both sides of the ball despite being on the younger side, a testament to his abilities. A strongly built backstop, Rivera shows advanced skill behind the dish with footwork that’s as quick as his release, showing advanced arm strength on his throws. He shows a fast righthanded swing with strength in his hands, allowing for present carry off the barrel to all parts of the field.

Ethan Salas, C, 2024
6-0/148, L-R, Caracas, VE
Travel Team: Gran Caracas

The younger brother of Jose Salas, a 14u National Showcase alum and recent signee of the Miami Marlins, Ethan has a different profile than Jose but is a legitimate prospect in his own right. Simply put, players at the 13u level don’t receive, move laterally or throw like Salas, showing refined present skills and high-end upside. He’s a lefthanded hitter with quick hands and a direct, compact stroke, allowing for consistent barreled contact with nice balance and fluidity in the box.

Carter Smith, IF/RHP, 2025
6-1/155, R-R, Cape Coral, FL
Travel Team: Gulf Coast Monarchs

Smith was outstanding this summer, excelling in all facets of his game and it’s scary to think his best days are still ahead. A primary shortstop, the long and lean 6-foot-1 Smith moves plenty well in the dirt, showing advanced glove skill both backhand and forehand along with plenty of arm strength, evidenced by his mid-80s fastball. His quick hands generate big bat speed already, showing lift through the zone with backspin and carry to all parts of the yard.

Michael Torres, OF, 2025
5-9/140, L-L, Miami, FL
Travel Team: Elite Squad

Like others, Torres competed at the next age level throughout the summer circuit, performing well while hitting atop the Elite Squad lineup. While he may not be overly physical, Torres shows a natural handle for the barrel from the left side of the plate, getting his loose hands extended well while utilizing an all fields approach. His instincts and baseball IQ not only serve him well on the bases, but also in the outfield where he shows a quick first step and nice closing speed.

West

Slade Caldwell, OF, 2024
5-7/144, L-L, Jonesboro, AR
Travel Team: Yalobusha Giants

Caldwell put together back-to-back eye-opening performances this summer with his lefthanded swing, first earning MVP honors at the 13u Elite Championships before hitting .600 at the 14u WWBA. During his time in Hoover the young lefthanded stick did an excellent job of squaring the ball up, showing a quick yet strong barrel through the zone which allowed for impact to all fields. His speed is another tool for opposing teams to consider and it’s one he knows how to implement into his overall game.

Cam Caminiti, OF/LHP, 2025
5-10/160, L-L, Scottsdale, AZ
Travel Team: Scottsdale Dirtbags

There’s legitimate two-way potential with the young lefthander out of Arizona as he impressed on both sides throughout the summer. With a bat in his hands he shows a smooth and balanced stroke with excellent timing and natural lift to his path as he does a nice job of keeping the barrel in the zone for a while. On the mound he works with a simple operation, running his fastball into the low-80s while filling the lower third and landing a curveball for strikes.

Masa Chilcutt, IF, 2025
5-7/148, R-R, San Antonio, TX
Travel Team: Banditos Scout Team

Chilcutt has proven there isn’t much he can’t do on the diamond, showing polish and feel in regard to all aspects of his game. Surehanded in the infield with fluid footwork and a very quick exchange, those elements also show in his skills behind the plate as well as in the outfield, giving him plenty of versatility. In the batter’s box Chilcutt remains balanced, showing quickness to his hands and a feel for the barrel and performed while playing up 1-2 years this summer.

Colton Cordeiro, IF/RHP, 2025
6-1/155, R-R, Corinth, TX
Travel Team: USA Prime National

The long and lean 6-foot-1 Cordeiro shows intriguing tools on both sides of the ball, possessing upside both on the mound as well as in the batter’s box. Already up to 83 mph, the righthanded Cordeiro shows plenty of arm speed through the back while spinning a 12-6 shaped curveball for strikes. He moves well on his feet with long, graceful strides both in the field and on the bases while creating solid present bat speed through the zone with some strength at impact.

Paul Dominguez-Walker, RHP/IF, 2025
5-10/195, R-R, La Mirada, CA
Travel Team: MVP Hustle

A primary righthanded pitcher, Dominguez-Walker shows some of the better velocity in the class, already running his fastball up to 85 mph and does so with a sense of ease. His delivery on the mound is simple in terms of moving parts, working to a lower slot which helps generate sinking life. Along with the power on the mound, Dominguez-Walker shows power at the plate as well, tapping into his strength well to barrel the ball with authority to all parts of the yard.

Travis Friend, OF, 2025
5-10/145, R-R, La Mirada, CA
Travel Team: MVP Hustle

Friend was a standout at the inaugural 13u National Showcase, putting an array of exciting tools on display to follow closely as he continues to add physical strength. That said, he posted one of the best 60-yard times at 6.98 and moves well on his feet in the outfield with sound fundamentals and plenty of athleticism. He does an excellent job of repeating his swing, consistently finding the barrel with steady line drive contact and nice power potential moving forward.

Sean Gamble, IF, 2025
5-11/155, L-R, Des Moines, Iowa
Travel Team: Iowa Sticks

Gamble has a nice foundation of tools that project extremely well moving forward, though his present skills already stand out. A native of Iowa, Gamble’s lefthanded swing has already shown that it’ll play against older competition, remaining loose and fluid through the zone with a natural feel for the barrel. He shows soft hands and clean skills with the glove on defense, circling the ball with his footwork and sound fundamentals not always found at the 13u level.

Konnor Griffin, OF/RHP, 2025
6-2/160, R-R, Florence, MS
Travel Team: Yalobusha Giants

One look at Griffin and you quickly realize he isn’t your typical 13u player, already standing at 6-foot-2 with long limbs and broad shoulders. The long-term projection is exciting, but so are his present skills, both on the mound where he has already been up to 85 mph as well as in the righthanded batter’s box. Despite his age/size combo, Griffin’s athleticism shines as he repeats his swing very well, generating solid bat speed while using his length well to generate leverage and power at the point of contact.

Boston Kellner, RHP/OF, 2025
5-11/165, R-R, Woodbury, MN
Travel Team: Dulins Dodgers

Kellner may not come from a traditional baseball hot bed, but the young Minnesota native has the talent to compete with anybody on the national level. A primary righthander, Kellner works comfortably in the low-80s with his fastball with which he fills the zone and misses bats, mixing a late biting curveball for strikes. He also swings it well, hitting .462 at the 13u World Series while showing a leverage, loose swing and a nice handle for the barrel.

Darren Ledford, C, 2025
6-1/180, L-R, Council Hill, OK
Travel Team: USA Prime National

Ledford is representing the host state of Oklahoma and the young lefthanded hitting backstop offers high end talent on both sides of the ball. Already standing at 6-foot-1, 180 pounds, Ledford knows how to use his strength at the plate, getting his loose hands extended while generating natural lift to drive the ball to all fields with strength. He isn’t a bat only prospect however, showing agile actions behind the plate and the type of arm strength to quickly shut down an opponent’s running game.

Dean Moss, OF, 2025
5-11/160, L-R, Atherton, CA
Travel Team: MVP Hustle

Moss has already carved out a reputation as being a big lefthanded bat on the West Coast and his performance the summer reaffirmed that notion, hitting .500 on the year. The MVP of the 13u World Series, Moss is a legitimate power threat every time he steps to the plate as he does a nice job of getting his arms extended while generating big jump off the barrel. His bat is a loud tool and he has consistently performed in games, looking to drive the ball any chance he gets.

Kibru Pam, RHP, 2025
5-9/155, R-R, Pasadena, CA
Travel Team: MVP Hustle

A young righthander out of California, Pam threw well this summer at several Perfect Game events despite playing up a year or two in competition level. With a balanced and athletic delivery on the bump, Pam has seen his fastball already touch 84 mph, showing a quick arm stroke while creating some sinking life down in the zone. He mixes both a curveball and slider as part of his arsenal, living down in the zone while missing plenty of bats.

Jose Perdomo, IF, 2025
5-11/155, R-R, Maturin, VE
Travel Team: Little Caesars

Perdomo, a Venezuela native, has spent plenty of time stateside this summer and opened eyes at every stop. Equipped with a package of tools simply not found at the 13u level, Perdomo is an advanced defender already with smooth, quick-twitched actions and plenty of arm strength across. He uses his strength well to generate standout bat speed, whipping the barrel through the zone while showing strength off the barrel and real power potential moving forward.

Jack Ruckert, IF, 2025
5-10/150, L-R, Baton Rouge, La.
Travel Team: Traction Canes/USA Prime National

As evidenced by his .535 batting average on the summer, the lefthanded hitting Ruckert shows no problem handling the barrel in the box, performing at several high-end events on the circuit. A lean and projectable 5-foot-10, 150-pound infielder, Ruckert shows a smooth and loose path and gets on plane well, staying balanced while creating some lift out front. His hands also play well on defense, showing softness to his glove with clean and smooth overall actions.

Caden Shanks, IF/RHP, 2024
6-1/145, S-R, Cookeville, TN
Travel Team: Mad Mavericks

Shanks made the most of his time in Hoover, Alabama during the 14u WWBA, impressing both with his switch-hitting abilities as well as on the mound where his performance truly stood out. A young 2024 graduate, the 6-foot-1 Shanks offers plenty of arm speed on the mound where he has already been up to 85 mph while working down in the zone. The combination of his fastball and late breaking curveball give him a combo of pitches with which he can consistently miss bats.

Nolan Traeger, C, 2024
5-10/150, L-R, Spring, Texas
Travel Team: Twelve Baseball | College Commitment: TCU

A young for the grade 2024 graduate, Traeger already has his college commitment set with in-state TCU as his skills on both sides of the ball already stand out. The future Horned Frog shows loose and agile actions behind the plate with solid catch-and-throw skills, quickly shutting down the opposition’s running game. His lefthanded swing produced throughout the 14u South Championships, staying shorter and loose to the ball with enticing projection moving forward.

16u Elite Scout Notes: Days 1-2  ‘28 AJ Bonnette (TX) with 7 Ks thru 4 IP thus far, living 89-91 w/ heavy traits. Filling up all four quads & attacking hitters early in counts. He toed the rubber in round two of the playoffs, proceeding to toss six innings with eight punchouts and zero earned runs allowed. The 6-foot southpaw filled up all four quadrants of the strike zone, attacking hitters early and often with his fastball. Performance Baseball Rolls On

Kinley Kitchens
Article Image
Championship teams often reveal themselves when the game isn’t going their way. Performance Baseball 2028/Milwaukee Brewers Scout Team did exactly that. Trailing Florida Burn 2028 Scout through four innings, the Brewers refused to panic. Instead, they relied on timely hitting, consistent pitching, and an unselfish approach at the plate, rallying a five-run fifth inning before pulling away for a 9-5 victory to clinch their spot in the semifinals. The comeback was fueled by contributions throughout the lineup. Six different players drove in runs, including two RBIs each from Aiden Capobianco and Cameron Massey, while Matthew Heredia, Parker Weston, Ethan Smith, and Aj Bonnette each added an RBI of their own. On the mound, Derek Wenzel set the tone with 3.2 solid innings before Ethan Smith shut the door in relief, helping preserve the comeback victory. Although the Brewers have had a...

From the opening pitch, JK Select controlled the pace of the game. The offense jumped out early, scoring 6 runs in the 1st inning after timely hits from MVP Sean Shindo and Kade Manarpaac. The early lead gave the pitching staff confidence as they worked efficiently through the opposing lineup. “I've worked hard to get better at my game for the past few months; it means a lot that I did well and performed in a tournament like this” said Shindo. Starting pitcher Maddox Prones turned in a strong performance, allowing 3 runs while striking out 5 batters over 3 innings. The defense backed the effort with great plays in the middle infield, preventing GBG Vegas from building momentum....

"Wow" Swings Catch Eyes at 16u Elite

Kinley Kitchens
Article Image
On the second day of the 2026 Perfect Game National Elite Championship, one swing turned heads across the ballpark. The next one brought everyone to a stop. With Wow Factor Nation 16U trailing midway through its matchup against Sandlot Scout Team 2028, Micheal O'Connor launched a solo home run to spark the offense. Just one batter later, Aaron Frink stepped into the box and sent another ball over the fence, delivering back-to-back home runs that quickly became one of the most talked about moments of the tournament’s opening days. Parents gathered along the nets, players from previous games stopped to watch, and college scouts turned their attention toward the action as the two towering swings energized the crowd and brought new life to the game. Although Wow Factor Nation ultimately lost 5-3 after a hard-fought performance, the back-to-back home runs served as a reminder of the...

Texas Twelve Firing On Full Cylinders

Kinley Kitchens
Article Image
Every team hopes to start a tournament with momentum, but few make a statement quite like Texas Twelve Maroon 2028. Matched up against defending champion Excel Blue Wave National to kick off their debut in the 2026 Perfect Game National Elite Championship, Texas Twelve Maroon delivered a complete team performance, earning a hard-fought 3-2 victory and immediately establishing themselves as one of the top teams to watch this week. The win showcased the balance that has made Texas Twelve Maroon a powerful team.
