East Coast Pro Scout Notes: Day 1

Every year professional scouts from, mostly, the Eastern part of the United States assemble teams of the top-rated prospects for the upcoming draft to compete at the East Coast Professional Showcase. 2020, albeit pandemic-stricken, is no different as approximately 150 of the best draft prospects, along with a few standout juniors, descended upon Hoover, Alabama to show their skills to a stadium full of scouts and evaluators.

The first day of the East Coast Pro features three shortened games but also featured batting practice, 60-yard dashes, and workouts before any of the games begin. Some of the BPs were pretty loud and some of the standout BP performers are listed below:



Braden Montgomery (2021, Madison, Miss.) is one of the premier two-way talents but he’s also a switch hitter with a very clean stroke, from a mechanical standpoint, from either side. The swing exudes barrel control, an efficient bat path, with significant strength coming off the ball.
