15u South World Series Scout Notes: Day 1

Premier Baseball Futures 2023 got off to a great start behind Texas A&M commit, Weston Moss (2023, Spring, Texas) who showed many in attendance why he is heading to College Station to play his college ball. The 6-3, 160 pound, long and lean righty, is a strike throwing machine. His easy, smooth, very repeatable mechanics allow him to pitch consistently down the slope leaning on an active 83-87 mph fastball that touched 89 mph on occasion. The Oak Ridge HS rising sophomore also shows a sweeping 73-75 mph breaking ball that he can shape differently and work effectively to both sides of the plate.

Jakob Schulz (2023, Houston, Texas) is Perfect Game’s number one ranked, class of 2023, lefthanded pitcher in the state of Texas and number two ranked LHP in the country. His outing on Tuesday afternoon was highly impressive and certainly helped support those well-deserved rankings. The 6-1, 190 pound sophomore to be at Memorial HS, pitched almost exclusively off his riding 78-84 mph fastball that he worked to both edges and all quadrants. He complimented his often times overpowering heater with a sharp, 12-to-6 breaking, 71 mph curveball.
