14U World Series Scout Notes: Day 1 | Day 2 | Day 3

Landon Victorian (2024, Lake Charles, LA) delivered one of the better performances of the day for the Banditos, turning in a complete game effort on the heels of a dominant start in the 14U WWBA just over a week ago. More than looking the part with a high waisted, long limbed 6-3, 155 pound frame, Victorian’s frame is the epitome of the word “projectable” as he’s nowhere near hitting his physical ceiling.

Just because he isn’t as physical as some of the other arms in the tournament doesn’t mean his stuff won’t line up next to others as he can match almost anybody pitch for pitch thanks to his big time arm speed. Opening up in the 83-85 mph range with his fastball, bumping an 86 mph here or there, Victorian continued to cruise in the low 80's over the entirety of his start, showing life to the fastball while filling the zone and missing bats as evidenced by his seven strikeouts over his seven innings of work. While there is some effort in his release it doesn’t appear to inhibit Victorian’s ability to maintain velocity nor work within the zone as he showed his best fastball of the day on the final pitch of the game, bumping 87 mph, in part to just how cleanly the ball leaves his hand.

The breaking ball showed mostly slurve-type action into the low 70's on the day with tight spin and just like in Hoover he found the feel for the pitch the more he threw it. Keep close eyes on this young righthander out of Louisiana as the arm speed, athleticism, and long-term physical projection all will make him a priority for college recruiters.
