Young shortstop Owen Paino (2024, Poughkeepsie, N.Y.) has some intriguing upside for the 14u Canes American team that was down this weekend as the 6-2, 165 pound infielder has a significant amount of upside. He’s a primary arm, who saw some time on the bump in bracket play where he was up to 84 mph, but the swing is pretty loose and simple from the left side as he hit a robust .900 heading into championship Monday. There’s loft to the stroke and obvious barrel feel given his insane numbers that he put up over the course of the weekend, as he had the opportunity to drive in a lot of runs hitting out of the third spot. The upside will be fun to watch as Paino continues to develop as he’s a legitimate two-way threat.
