Playoff action at The Perfect Game 17U National Elite Championship got started on Sunday. Intriguing matchups throughout the day, allowed for plenty of late game heroics, clutch hits and electric pitching appearances. 



Tayler Montiel (2021, Brentwood, Tenn.) got the start for Dulin Dodgers Prime in their playoff round matchup with a talented South Charlotte Panthers squad. The lean, projectable lefthander set the tone early, sitting 87-88 MPH early on and maintaining that for the duration of his outing. Montiel works from an over-the-top slot while creating natural arm side that generates plenty of weak contact and swings-and-misses. The secondary offerings are still in the developmental stage while showing the potential for his full mix as he continues to grow. The breaking ball has depth from his higher slot, showing the ability to land for strikes. The Mississippi State commit stymied a very strong Panthers line-up for seven full innings, scattering three hits and punching out eight hitters to get the win.
