16u/17u West World Series Scout Notes: Day 1 | Day 2
Mira Costa High school standout and Santa Clara commit Nick Bacura (2021, Manhattan Beach, Calif.) was 2 for 5 with a double and a triple heading into day three of play. Bacura has been high on the radar since last summer and really impressed at the MLK Classic in January. His quick hands and plus barrel control give him an above the curve hit tool as a backstop. Behind the plate, he’s got solid awareness with developing frame work that already shows advancement with his soft glove that works back towards the zone. He’s already showcased that he can be a leader for the infield, and he understands how to run a ballgame. Had the high school season gone on as planned he’d be even higher on many scouts’ lists. Bacura has the opportunity to really make a significant jump this summer and into next spring.
