Southeast Region: Arizona, Nevada, New Mexico, Utah

There are four high schools in the Southwest Region that start the 2020 spring season ranked inside the Top 25 in the Perfect Game National High School team rankings and each of those schools is strongly represented on this talented Dream Team.

Palo Verde High School (Nev.) is the top-ranked team in the region at 14th overall and is represented by junior outfielder Thomas Dilandri and righthanded pitcher Paulshawn Pasqualotto. Mountain Pointe High School (Ariz.) is close behind at 16th and features the dynamic left side infield duo of shortstop Carson Tucker and third baseman/righthanded pitcher Ethan Long. Hamilton High School (Ariz.) is led by two-way threat junior lefthanded pitcher Brock Selvidge, while Bishop Gorman (Nev.) checks in with three players: first baseman/outfielder Carson Wells and a pair of juniors, catcher Gavin Mez and shortstop/righthanded pitcher Tyler Whitaker.

C – Gavin Mez
The lefthanded hitting Mez shared catching duties at Bishop Gorman as a freshman and won the job as a sophomore, hitting .366-0-22 and only striking out six times in 30 games. He’s a polished and athletic player who projects to hit for more power in the future, probably as early as this spring.
