26. TCU

2019 Record: 33-26 (11-13 Big 12)
2019 Finish: Fayetteville Regional

Last year’s version of the Horned Frogs scrapped their way into a Regional with an RPI of 59 but this roster is more reminiscent of the teams that made four straight trips to Omaha (2014-17). The increased talent level comes by way of several new faces and position changes for several veterans should help upgrade the overall position player group. Pitching depth should be a foundational strength here but many of these names are somewhat unproven. Charles King had an excellent 2019 and he could fit into a number of roles. Live-armed sophomore Marcelo Perez closed as a freshman and he is a rotation candidate this year. Redshirt sophomores Russell Smith and Caleb Sloan are returning from injury and they could be difference makers. Four newcomer arms who are projected for significant roles are highly touted freshmen Jacob Meador and Riley Cornelio plus junior college transfers Johnny Ray and Drew Hill. Junior college shortstop Tommy Sacco is a critical piece as improving the defense is a big priority in 2020.
