This weekend’s PG Super 25 16u Vineland Regional is expected to draw some of the top prospects from the 2020-2022 classes. And while it is amazing that many players have already signed on to become a part of their respective college programs, most competing athletes are still searching for the college program they will become a part of, and it remains important to highlight the top uncommitted players for the weekend’s upcoming PG Super25 regional.

Dan Merkel, RHP/OF, Class of 2021, Molina Stars
Merkel is a 6-foot, 185-pound righty hailing from Millstone, New Jersey. Merkel is a part of the well-known Molina Stars program based in Virginia. Ranked within the top 15 prospects for the class of 2021 in New Jersey, Merkel clocked in last summer sitting in upper-80s with his fastball while displaying a curveball that rested in the mid-70s. Now a year older, Merkel should continue to progress physically, making room for more velocity and movement with his fastball/curveball mix, and heading into the 2019 season Merkel was given honorable mention status in the PG Preseason All-American lists; he is graded as an 8.5 on the PG grading scale, profiling as a future potential draft pick.

Andrew Spaan, RHP, Class of 2021, Keystone Baseball Club 16u
After Dan Merkel, Andrew Spaan is the top uncommitted pitching prospect in the regional. A 6-foot, 166-pound righthander from Camp Hill, Spaan is a part of the top 15 prospects list for the class of 2021 in Pennsylvania. Resting in the mid-80s with his fastball and mid-70s with his curveball and changeup last summer, Spaan remains relatively thin in terms of his frame and therefore projects for added velocity in the future. Spaan also works in the middle infield and was named to the high honorable mention list for the PG underclassmen All-American Teams.

Fran Oschell, RHP/IF/OF, Class of 2021, Molina Stars
A member of the High School Baseball Powerhouse known as Malvern Prep, Oschell is perhaps the most projectable of the uncommitted pitching prospects in the regional. Standing at 6-foot-6 and weighing in at 210 pounds, Oschell has plenty of time to fill his immense frame. Resting in the mid-80s last summer, Oschell is a has good stuff, striking out 28 over 23 1/3 recorded innings for Perfect Game. Oschell was a high honorable mention for the PG Underclassmen All-American teams this year, and expectations will be riding high for him heading into the weekend.

Luke Holman, RHP/SS, Class of 2021, Holman Hurricanes 16u Elite
A 6-foot-3, 180-pound pitcher and infielder from Sinking Spring, Pa., Holman is the 23rd ranked overall prospect in Pennsylvania. A top 500 national player, Holman sat in the mid-80s off the mound in last summer. His highlights from last summer include an All-Tournament team nomination in the 2021 grad national championship last summer, a tournament in which Holman tossed 9.2 innings of scoreless ball, striking out 13 in the process. Holman is hitting nearly .400 over the course of 66 at-bats in Perfect Game events.

Jack Ginsburg, 1B/RHP, Class of 2021, Bell Ringers 16u Black
With a large 6-foot-3, 215-pound frame playing a corner infield position, Ginsburg possesses an excellent bat from the right side of the dish. It appears competition is already beginning to stray from facing Ginsburg’s bat, as he has walked nearly in nearly a third of his 64 recorded at-bats with Perfect Game. On the mound Ginsburg sits in the low-80s with a high-60s curveball to complement and has time on his side to continue progression. Relatively young for his class, Ginsburg has the time he needs to develop into a top college prospect.
