NE Super25 Regional Preview

Top 5 Teams

East Coast Lumberjacks 2021s
The Lumberjacks hail from Patchogue, New York and bring to the table multiple top 1000 prospects. Aside from Notre Dame Commit Roman Kimball, the Lumberjacks feature 2021 RHP/IF and Fordham commit Ty Wachter struck out 26 in only 20 innings of work during his 2018 PG campaign, spotting a mid-80s fastball and recording an ERA of 1.10. 2021 catcher Tyler Smith is ranked as a top 10 catcher in the state of New York. Smith has a projectable 6-foot-2 frame with power to all fields.

Bronx Bombers 15u
The Bombers have the top-ranked player at the regional in Royer Stanley Moreno-Cedeno. The Bombers also feature top 1000 righthanded pitcher Angel Miranda and a pair of impressive outfielders in 2022 outfielders Justin Sanchez and Christopher Suero. Miranda has been clocked in the mid-80s as recently as last fall, and projects for more with his 6-foot-2 frame.

Team Beast 2021 Red
2021 outfielder and shortstop Tyler Cox highlights Team Beast roster filled with excellent prospects. Cox possesses a clean swing from the left side and an excellent arm from the shortstop position. 2021 lefthander Justin Larea is another player to watch. Throwing from the left side, Larea is still developing velocity, but a solid delivery and good pitch shape project for more.

Team Beast 2021 Black
Another squad from the Team Beast family, this group of 2021s features excellent young talent. 2021 first baseman Gavin Weinstock has flashed power but is still developing his swing mechanics. 2021 infielder Lee-Anthony Santiago is still very thing and raw in terms of physical build but has shown excellent defensive technique and a quick barrel.

Harrisburg Hornets
Along with Teague Hoover the hornets have an excellent young outfielder in 2022 Maika Niu. Niu has great instincts in the infield, and as a switch hitter has shown a solid hit tool from both sides of the dish. 2022 outfielder Christopher Rosa possesses power as a righthanded hitter and has shown velocity and accuracy when making outfield throws. Expect the Hornets to move into a deep playoff run.

Top 5 Prospects

2021 LHP Royer Stanley Moreno-Cedeno – Bronx Bombers 15u
Moreno-Cedeno is ranked as a top 150 prospect for the class of 2022 and the No. 6 overall prospect in the state of New Jersey. Royer was clocked in the mid-80s from the left side last fall, and at only 15 years old Cedeno has plenty of time to develop.

2021 RHP Roman Kimball – East Coast Lumberjacks 2021s
Committed to Notre Dame, 2021 RHP Roman Kimball is a top 15 player in New Jersey. Kimball was recorded in the mid-80s last year with his fastball and features a stellar curve/changeup mix. Kimball is listed at 5-foot-10, 153-pounds, meaning his frame has a long way to go, increasing his projectability.

2022 IF Teague Hoover – Harrisburg Hornets
Hoover is the No. 3 shortstop in the state of Pennsylvania, No. 10 overall. Coming from Selinsgrove Pa. in the heart of central Pennsylvania, Hoover has great footwork and arm strength from anywhere in the infield, and with added strength Hoover could develop good power from the right side.

2021 C Santo Anzalone – HBQVB Avengers
Santo Anzalone is top 5 catcher from New York and ranks as a top 1000 prospect in the class of 2021. Anzalone is still developing defensively from behind the dish but handles the bat well, showcasing power from the right side and an ability to lift the ball to his pull side.

2022 RHP Matt Scott – The Clubhouse 2022
A Stanford commit, Scott projects well stemming from his 6-4 frame. Scott is the top pitcher in the state of Connecticut. Scott sat in the low-80s last fall but expect to see more velocity as he continues to mature.
