37 teams are competing in the PG Super25 15u Mid-Atlantic Qualifier, which kicked off Friday night in Bridgeton, New Jersey with all teams attempting to secure a place in the PG Super 25 national championship.

Opening night of the tournament saw plenty of stellar play on both sides of the ball. Jersey Shore Fire’s Ethan Dodd showcased a low 80’s fastball against the South Jersey Young Guns, throwing 5.2 scoreless innings while striking out nine and walking only one. Christian Park was impressive on the mound for the Young Guns, going the distance while allowing only 6 runners on base, striking out five.

Another standout performance on Friday night came from the bat of the Bell Ringer’s Joseph Little, who was a home run away from the cycle against the Kingsway Knights. Little also knocked in five runs on the night to complete a individually stellar night of baseball.

Moving into the weekend, the young men continued to impress, showcasing why they belong in a Super Qualifier.

Early in the morning top 500 prospect Trey Yesavage was dominant for the Keystone State Bombers. Despite tossing only one inning on Saturday, Yesavage impressed with a 84-87mph fastball, complimented by a biting overhand curveball that sat in the low 70’s. In his one inning of work, Yesavage struck out two.

Leading all hitters on Saturday was the South Jersey Storm’s Alexander Sasha Palma. Sasha Palma was 5 for 6, doubling twice while crossing home plate six times on the day. Sasha Palma worked from the left side of the infield during Saturday’s games.

The Peninsula Riverdawgs were dominant on the mound Saturday thanks to JT Kroner and Zachary Gorman. Both Kroner and Gorman went 6 1/3 innings of scoreless baseball, combining for nineteen strikeouts and only six hits allowed on the day. Kroner and Gorman worked into the low-80s, mixing well with their breaking pitches to find success on Saturday.

Heavy Hitters four has lived up to their name throughout the tournament thus far, as Austin Ludwick and Julio Nieves Sanchez are anchoring a lineup that was undefeated in pool play. Including Round one of the playoffs, Ludwick has five hits as well as five stolen bases to go along with five RBIs. Sanchez has shown more of a power approach, homering once and doubling twice, knocking in five runs.

Also showcasing throughout Saturday was Dylan Banner from the Long Island Body Armor Titans. Banner went 6 1/3 innings, topping out at 79 with his fastball and showing command both with the fastball and a breaking ball. The Titan’s Dominic Crema was exceptional all around, spraying the ball to all fields while making every routine play as a corner infielder.

After two days of play, teams are now slotted into their seedings for the playoffs. Consolation games will take place early in the day for teams that did not win their pool. The championship game will be held at the Chelsea Heights turf field in Atlantic City, New Jersey.
