JUCO Top 25: April 2 | Top 300 JUCO Prospects

We continue to see a decent bit of separation at the top of these rankings, with Wabash Valley continuing to just assault opposing teams en route to what has already been a historic season for head coach Rob Fournier. They have now won 28 consecutive games, setting a new school record for consecutive victories, and one that is still going. Northwest Florida State entered the season at No. 2 and have stayed right there, as they had a bye week this past week after dropping the finale to Chipola, though they'd won the first three of that series.

Walters State has a big week upcoming with a pair against Spartanburg Methodist and then a conference tilt with Dyersburg State over the weekend. McLennan continues to roll in Texas, and they'll have a chance to make an even louder statement this week when they take on Grayson (27-9) in a four-game set. Wallace-Dothan continues to pace the state of Alabama; they're in the midst of a 13-game winning streak with a very favorable schedule in the upcoming couple weeks, though a big late-April matchup with Chattahoochee Valley looms large.

John A. Logan gives the state of Illinois two teams in the top six and I'll be on hand for their series with No. 1 Wabash Valley in early May. LSU-Eunice continues to be the class of D-II, sitting at 31-4 and running away with games. Johnson County had their long win streak snapped but still had a solid week, and while they dropped a couple spots they held strong in the top 10. San Joaquin Delta and Southern Nevada also held steady to round out the top 10.

It's been written about in this space repeatedly, but what is happening in Arizona continues to astound in terms of who really is the favorite. The depth and parity is above that of any other state right now, something that hasn't always been the case in recent years. Take Yavapai, for example. Ranked down in the preseason Top 50 to start the year, Yavapai got off to objectively a rough start at 14-10. They've now rattled off 14 straight wins to climb to 28-10, including two-game sweeps over a pair of ranked opponents in Central Arizona and Arizona Western just this past week. Meanwhile, both Central Arizona and Arizona Western are playing well, and Cochise was ranked just as recently as last week. It's hard to find a favorite when the merry-go-round of everyone just beating each other keeps spinning. It's going to be a fascinating finish.

Out in California, the Big 8 conference in NorCal looks just as tight and highly competitive as we expected in the preseason. San Joaquin Delta sits on top right now but it's a thin margin, as both Sierra and Santa Rosa are right behind them with Sacramento City looming as well. Down in the Orange Empire conference of SoCal, Orange Coast, Riverside and Santa Ana are all 11-4, as that too should be a fascinating finish. The winningest club in California right now is Feather River, who, at 29-4 overall and 18-0 in conference (Golden Valley) play, are running away with the conference title with no signs of slowing down any time soon.

Rankings are based on games through Sunday, April 7.
