2019 Top Prospects

Tate Kuehner  LHP - 2019 - Marshalltown, IA
Louisville

Kuehner was one of just two 2019 graduates in attendance. On the mound, he displayed an athletic delivery from the left side with a strong drive off the backside. His most threatening pitch was his sharp fading changeup that he would go to in any count. He paired it well with the fastball touching 86 miles per hour and could also land a short slider for strikes.

Cody Sterkenburg  C - 2019 - Grand Rapids, MI
Lansing CC

The 5-foot-10, 180-pound catcher was impressive during workouts behind the dish. He's got a quick arm action with an equally explosive drive out of the stance. His footwork is strong and makes accurate throws to the bag. He also stood out well with the bat creating solid jump when working to the pull side of the field.


2020 Top Prospects

Holden Phelps  RHP - 2020 - Crystal Lake, IL
Missouri

The 2020 uncommitted righthander was one of the most dominate performers of the weekend. An event high 90 mile per hour fastball with high-end command was enough to get quick outs. On top of that he showed a two-pitch secondary mix with a sinking changeup in the bottom of the zone and curveball with some downward bite.

Colton Smith  RHP - 2020 - Bennington, NE
Creighton

Colton Smith featured one of the better fastballs throughout both days of the indoor event. Standing at 6-foot, 165-pounds his strength and arm speed paired well allowing him to reach 87 miles per hour with sharp sinking life through the zone.

Nathan Holler  RHP - 2020 - Lake Barrington, IL
Kennesaw State

Holler displayed a very quick arm action to the plate. Standing at just 5-foot-10, the athletic righthander impressed with a top fastball of 86 miles per hour. He kept hitters off balance with a sharp slider and changeup that faded away from barrels. The 2020 graduate really showed some potential on the mound with his strong stuff.

Tyler Wessels  C - 2020 - Brimfield, IL
Illinois Central College

Wessels was an all-around strong performer over the weekend. He has some potential on the mound with a clean release working his fastball up to 81 miles per hour. Behind the plate he had one of the better pop times at 2.01 showing a quick and fluid catch and release. With the bat was where he stood out the most with very fast and explosive hands through the zone displaying a gap-to-gap approach.

Noah Van Veldhuizen  RHP - 2020 - Oskaloosa, IA
Kirkwood CC

Van Veldhuizen, a 205-pound 2020 graduate, showed his ability to be a solid power pitcher moving forward. He throws a heavy fastball in the mid 80's, topping at 85 miles per hour. He commands the pitch well on the edges of the plate and was able to put hitters away with a sinking changeup. He also flashed the ability to create softer contact with an 11-to-5 curveball at times.

Rhett Stein  C - 2020 - Auburn, WA
Biola University

The 2020 C/RHP took home the second best pop time of the weekend with one of two sub-two times at 1.95. The Auburn, WA native traveled a ways to showcase his skills and he did just that. He was strong with the bat with a quiet and easily repeated swing getting through the zone with a combination of strength and quickness. On the mound the 6-foot-1 righty didn't disappoint with sharp plane to his 81 mile per hour fastball and curveball with hard depth.

Jack Wenninger  RHP - 2020 - Cary, IL
Murray State

Wenninger, the uncommitted rightty, has a projectable frame on the mound at 6-foot-2, 185-pounds. He maintains good direction to the plate and utilizes a fluid arm stroke through release. The fastball shows late riding life through the zone topping out at 84 miles per hour. He's able to throw a couple versions of his off-speed with a curveball and slider combination.

Merrik Coulter  BHP - 2020 - Glasgow, KY
Uncommitted

Coulter is a rare pitcher who can throw from both sides and was impressive doing just that. He was smooth and repeated better from the right side getting up to 82 miles per hour with the fastball. However, his slider showed more of sharp and late break when throwing from the left side. Coulter will be an interesting prospect moving forward.

Carter Tibbits  3B - 2020 - Medina, MN
Creighton

Tibbits enjoyed a successful weekend at the plate and on the mound. At the plate Tibbits showed a high effort swing creating good bat speed and impressive gap to gap power, driving balls to and through the gaps consistently. On the mound Tibbits Flashed an impressive three pitch mix keeping hitters off balance with a firm fastball topping out at 84 miles per hour complimented by a curveball with nice depth and tight spin at 70 miles per hour and a sinking changeup at 74 miles per hour.

Zach Jacobson  RHP - 2020 - Gilman, IA
Central College

The 2020 grad showed the ability to pitch backwards while creating a lot of swing and misses during his two innings of work. Helping to keep hitters off balance was a mix of three pitches including a fastball at 83 miles per hour to go along with an 11-5 curveball with tight spin and a sinking change up at 74 miles per hour. He displayed the ability to throw all three pitches with confidence in any count.


2021 Top Prospects

Andrew Brockwell  RHP - 2021 - Brodhead, WI
Western Kentucky

Brockwell showed a high ceiling with a lot of projection on the mound as well as at the plate. On the mound Brockwell showed the ability to work his fastball to all quadrants of the zone while topping out at 85 miles per hour while mixing in a sharp curve-ball at 69 miles per hour inducing a hand full of ugly swings. At the plate Andrew showed a gap to gap approach with good bat speed and the ability to drive the ball through the gaps in the outfield.

Weston Fulk  LHP - 2021 - Ankeny, IA
Iowa

The recent Iowa commit showed a high ceiling on the mound at the Pitcher/Catcher Showcase this weekend. The left handed pitcher utilizes a side step into a high left lift with a smooth release. Fulk showed the ability to locate his fastball on the edges of the plate while topping out at 84 miles per hour to go along with a sharp slider keeping hitters off balance at 70 miles per hour.

Anthony Sorrentino  RHP - 2021 - Burr Ridge, IL
Uncommitted

Sorrentino was a lively arm on the mound from the right side. The 6-foot 2021 grad has a lot of arm quickness into release which allows him generate some life on the fastball at 85 miles per hour. He is able to pound the zone with consistency as well as command a curveball and changeup late in counts to get outs.

Noah Berndt  C - 2021 - Larsen, WI
Colorado State-Pueblo

The 2021 grad was impressive during batting practice this weekend. Berndt employs a gap to gap approach with impressive bat speed and consistent loud contact to and through the gaps in the outfield. Behind the plate Noah showed off athletic footwork and good arm strength while topping out at 80 miles per hour during catcher workouts

Blake Gaskey  RHP - 2021 - Davenport, IA
Southeastern CC

The Davenport native showed a loose arm action throwing from a three-quarter release with good arm speed. Displayed good control and feel for the zone spotting up with his fastball on both sides of the plate while topping out at 84 miles per hour. Displayed the ability to mix in a tight curve-ball at 69 miles per hour.

Logan Fragomeni  RHP - 2021 - Maple Grove, MN
Montana State

The large athletic 2021 grad was impressive at the plate and behind it this weekend. Behind the plate Logan showed athletic footwork gaining ground quickly into throws. He flashed good arm strength from behind the plate while topping out at 73 miles per hour. At the plate Fragomeni showed a long powerful swing with good bat speed. the lefty displayed consistent loud contact with jump off the barrel.


2022 Top Prospects

Hunter Pudlo  RHP - 2022 - Antioch, IL
Uncommitted

The strong 2022 grad was impressive on the mound and at the plate. On the mound Pudlo showed a high effort delivery with developing control while running his fastball up to 85 miles per hour. Hunter showed the ability to keep hitters off balance with a sharp curveball at 68 miles per hour. At the plate the Antioch native showed a hard swing with impressive power looking to lift the ball over the fence.
