2019 Pitcher/Catcher Showcase
Anthony Sorrentino is a 2021 RHP/MIF, OF with a 6-0 160 lb. frame from Burr Ridge, IL who attends Lyons Twp. Medium frame with strength in build and square shoulders. Primary righthanded pitcher with a side step and over the top delivery. Leg lift to the belt into a slightly closed off leg plant down the mound. Utilizes drop and drive actions to the plate. Long arm action in the back creating angle to the plate from a high three-quarter release. Creates the sharp angle on the fastball topping out at 85 miles per hour. Drops the arm slot some to throw a changeup with some occasional cutting aciton. Gets more on top of an 11-to-5 curveball that's developing at 71 miles per hour. Righthanded hitter with a slightly open stance to start. Long toe tap trigger for timing. Elevated swing path creating contact in the air. Will dip the backside at times and get under the ball. Aggressive with hands and can create bat speed through the zone. Very good student as well. Named to the 2019 Pitcher/Catcher Showcase Top Prospect List.
