2018 Top Prospects

Levi Usher  OF - 2018 - Fairfax, IA
Louisville/Kirkwood CC

Usher has some of the best run/throw tools in the country and he showed it with his 6.46 sixty and almost flawless outfield drill, where he threw up to 96 with outstanding carry and accuracy. His future will hinge on his continued improvement as a left handed hitter.

Clayton Nettleton  RHP - 2018 - Davenport, IA
Kirkwood CC

Nettleton has been in the low 90s this spring and has shown advanced pitchability. He has a mature delivery and pitching approach to go with a solid 11/5 curveball and the ability to use it to spots. Nettleton is signed with Iowa.

Nic McCay  RHP - 2018 - Carlisle, IA
South Dakota State

McCay has been up to 91 mph this spring and performed very well against top hitter's. His combination of very sound mechanics, easy release and big eye changing curveball make him a great catch for South Dakota State.

Andrew Irvine  RHP - 2018 - Clive, IA
Iowa

Irvine is a senior but he looks like a sophomore or junior with his slender and young 6-3/160 build and is very projectable in all his actions. He worked steadily in the mid-80's this outing and the Iowa signee really gets over his mid-70's curveball well.

Brayden Frazier  IF - 2018 - Cedar Rapids, IA
Iowa

Frazier is a strong young man, listed at 5-11/190 but appearing taller and even stronger. He's very athletic defensively all over the infield and his 92 mph infield arm strength stood out. Frazier is signed to play at Iowa.

Jevon Mason  OF - 2018 - West Des Moines, IA
Iowa Western CC

Mason has a big football player's build at 5-11/205 but solid baseball actions and skills. He's run down to 6.69 at PG events before and he used that speed very well in centerfield to get quick jumps on balls and show range. He is signed with Iowa Western CC.

Tyler Lewis  RHP - 2018 - West Des Moines, IA
Iowa Western CC

Lewis is a big young man at 6-4/235 and has some big arm strength to go with it, working up to 91 mph with his fastball and keeping in the upper ranges for almost his entire outing. He profiles as a power reliever right now with a high energy delivery and is signed with Indian Hills CC.

2019 Top Prospects

Drake Frazier  OF - 2019 - Cedar Rapids, IA
South Dakota State

Frazier is a different athlete than his older brother, Brayden, but a very good athlete nonetheless. He's a twitchier player with 6.6 speed and a slender 5-10/170 build but he still has lots of right handed bat speed and can put a charge into the baseball. He committed to South Dakota State.

Raphael (Ray Ray) Douglas  OF - 2019 - Sioux City, IA
DMACC

Douglas' skills are still developing but there is lots of physical ability and projection here. He ran 6.82 in the sixty and threw 91 from the outfield and 87 off the mound, all with loose and explosive athletic actions. Douglas also has plenty of right handed bat speed and pull oriented power potential.

Zachary Bierman  LHP - 2019 - Dubuque, IA
Creighton

Bierman is a square shouldered left hander with good athleticism and a three-pitch mix he throws for strikes, including a fastball up to 85 mph and an upper 60's curveball that has tight spin when he's out front with it. He is committed to Illinois State.

Sam Goodman  RHP - 2019 - Dubuque, IA
Iowa

A Wichita State commit, Goodman has the look of a future reliever, as his mid-70's slider is a definite out pitch for him, with sharp biting action and big depth away from right handed hitters. Goodman topped out at 85 mph this weekend and has been up to 88 mph this spring.

Benji Brokemond  SS - 2019 - Chicago, IL
Miami (OH)

In what was a very fast group of players, Brokemond ran out in front with a 6.39 time in the sixty. A slender and projectable 6-0/185 athlete, his speed is easily his best tool at present but he flashes right handed bat speed. Brokemond is committed to Miami (OH).

2020 Top Prospects

Carter Baumler  RHP - 2020 - Grimes, IA
TCU

Baumler checks all the boxes as a top prospect, from his 6.64 running speed to his plus bat speed to his upper 80's fastball on the mound. He's a primary pitcher right now but it wouldn't be surprising to see him develop as a position player in the future.

Calvin Harris  C - 2020 - Peosta, IA
Mississippi

Harris has all the athleticism and tools to become one of the best defensive high school catchers in the country by the time he graduates and could undoubtedly play most positions on the field defensively as well. His left handed swing has strength and raw bat speed and will continue to develop.

Parker Wright  RHP - 2020 - Columbia, MO
Missouri

This was our first time seeing the 6-3/190 right hander from Missouri and Wright was very impressive. He has a simple well paced delivery and works downhill to the bottom of the zone consistently with an 85-88 mph fastball that really projects. Wright also threw a big breaking slider that has lots of potential.

Casey Young  LHP - 2020 - Winterset, IA
Nebraska-Omaha

Young has a solid 6-1/190 build for a sophomore and plenty of two-way ability to go with it. He worked 80-84 on the mound with his fastball and showed feel and potential for both his curveball and change up, while also showing plenty of left handed bat speed and the ability to drive the ball.

Graysen Drezek  RHP - 2020 - Davenport, IA
University of Houston/Kirkwood CC

Drezek is an interesting athlete with a strong 6-3/200 build for a sophomore but plenty of mobility and body life. He was up to 84 mph on the mound from drop and drive delivery mechanics and showed good feel for both his curveball and for locating both pitches.

Andrue Henry  1B - 2020 - Dubuque, IA
Kirkwood CC

Henry fits the mold of the big middle of the lineup power hitter who is going to drive the ball consistently and produce runs. He's also a surprisingly nimble and smooth defensive first baseman and will make an impact on that side of the ball.

Jonah Hoeg  1B - 2020 - Prior Lake, MN
University of St. Thomas

The 6-2/220 Hoeg and fellow sophomore Andrue Henry (above) share the same profile as big right handed hitters who handle the barrel well and have lots of strength generated bat speed. Hoeg, like Henry, is also plenty nimble and athletic enough to be an asset at first base defensively.

2021 Top Prospects

Aaron Downs  3B - 2021 - Columbus, MS
Mississippi State

Downs has a very strong and live bodied build for a freshman and his 6.45 speed makes him one of the elite speed players of his age in the country. He has plenty of tools beyond his speed, too, with 85 mph arm strength on the mound and lots of right handed bat speed and power potential.

Gehrig Christensen  C - 2021 - Des Moines, IA
Iowa

Christensen is a young and skilled catcher with a very projectable 6-0/155 build and the catcher's advantage of being a left handed hitter. He already has strong fundamentals defensively behind the plate and lots of present arm strength and the same solid mechanical base as a hitter.

Coy Sarsfield  OF - 2021 - Marion, IA
Iowa

Sarsfield showed his young tools very well, running a 6.95 sixty and throwing 84 mph from the outfield as a freshman, but it would be very interesting to see him catch, as he has a compact and strong 5-8/165 build that fits the position and an ideal arm action as well.
