JUCO Top 25: April 10 | Top 250 Junior College Prospects

Some jockeying around for position took place in the rankings this week but the teams themselves stayed the same for the most part. Walters State (Tenn.) continues their reign atop the rankings, and they are followed, as they have been for a few weeks now, by San Jacinto (Texas) and San Joaquin Delta (Calif.) at Nos. 2 and 3, respectively. Wabash Valley (Ill.) made another jump this week, rising from No. 6 to No. 4, their first ascent into the Top 5 this season. McLennan (Texas) held steady at No. 5.

Crowder (Mo.) jumped several spots to No. 6 while the Florida stalwarts Chipola and Sante Fe remain at Nos. 7 and 8, respectively. South Mountain (Ariz.) continues their dominant season, climbing into the Top 10 for the first time this season at No. 9 overall, one spot ahead of fellow Arizonans, Central Arizona, at No. 10.

Notables:

• In what may end up being the series of the coming week, No. 5 McLennan and No. 19 Cisco will do battle down in Texas. They are a combined 70-14 this year and this could be a pivotal series for both clubs. Cisco has had an outstanding season thus far but they haven't played anyone close to the caliber of McLennan yet. We'll definitely find some things out about both clubs this week.

• South Mountain (Ariz.) got into the Top 10 this week at No. 9 and should be commended as they've enjoyed a tremendous season, which includes several wins against teams who have been ranked at one time or another.

• Grayson (Texas) and Wallace-Dothan (Ala.) both snuck back into the rankings this week at Nos. 24 and 25, respectively. Both teams were ranked to start the season but got off to rough starts and both are playing at extremely high levels right now as we come down the stretch.

• Things are especially interesting in California right now, in both the north and south, as teams are really bunched together without a whole lot of separation. San Joaquin Delta is the No. 3 overall team but they are in a battle for the Big 8 conference in the North with Sierra, Sacramento City, Santa Rosa and others. Ohlone at No. 22 has a good bit of separation in the Coast Pacific conference, while in the south, schools like Mt. San Antonio (South Coast North conference) and Orange Coast (Orange Empire conference) are leading those conferences with a bit of separation, but they have teams right on their heels as well.

Rankings are based on games through Sunday, April 15.
