Top 5 Prospects

1. Andy Rivera, rhp, Pompano Beach (Middle Tennessee State/JR in 2018)
Used primarily as a reliever this summer, Rivera stepped into a starting role on the final day of the season, delivering 5 1/3 scoreless innings to lead the Pompano Beach Clippers to a championship. He didn’t give up an earned run all summer in eight appearances spanning 17 1/3 innings, using his low- to mid-90s fastball to record outs. He threw from a lower three-quarters slot which creates both deception and late sinking movement. Rivera also threw a 79-82 mph breaking ball and a mid-80s changeup. He has transferred from Chattanooga State to Middle Tennessee State for his junior year.

2. Nik Constantakos, rhp, Florida (Charleston Southern/SO in 2018)
As a true freshman Constantakos served as Charleston Southern’s Friday starter and performed admirably, striking out 75 and walking just 16 in 64 innings while posting a 4.92 ERA. His performance numbers improved over the summer, with a 1.66 ERA in seven appearances, six of which were starts, holding the same impressive strikeout-to-walk ratio at 43-to-6 in 27 innings of work. He sustains his 91-93 heater that touches 94 well deep into ballgames, mixing in a sharp mid- to upper-70s curveball. He is draft eligible next spring as a sophomore.

3. C.J. Alexander, 3b/of, Pompano Beach (State College of Florida/SO in 2018)
After playing sparingly at Ball State in 2017 Alexander has transferred back to his home state of Florida to play at State College of Florida. C.J. is the older brother of 2017 PG All-American Blaze Alexander. He has a similar athletic profile, although in a large and more physical 6-foot-5, 210-pound frame that could lead to more power in the future. Currently he is a gap-to-gap hitter who swings the bat from the left side of the plate, hitting .358 with 13 extra-base hits this summer, four of which were home runs. He was named the MVP of the championship series for Pompano Beach.

4. Cole Haring, of, Pompano Beach (Baylor/JR in 2018)
Haring spent his first two years at McLennan College and has transferred to Baylor for his junior year after being drafted in the 37th round by the Orioles. Haring’s game is highlighted his speed, which makes him dangerous on the basepaths and gives him great range in center field. He hit .324 for the league champs, and also showed a little pop with six doubles and three home runs to complement his 19 stolen bases. He has a clean, quick and fluid swing from the righthanded batter’s box with a knack for squaring up the ball consistently.

5. Jordan Spicer, rhp, Boca Raton (UCF/JR in 2018)
Spicer is yet another JuCo transfer, moving from Polk State to UCF after the Twins took him in the 26th round of this year’s draft. He had a big spring for Polk State, going 7-0 with 71 strikeouts in 69 2/3 innings and should find a productive role immediately for UCF as a result. At 6-foot-3, 210-pounds he has great frame, built strong and athletic which complements his 90-94 mph fastball well. He also throws both a curveball and a slider, with the slider showing more promise but needing more consistency.
