FORT MYERS, Fla. – The 12th annual Perfect Game Junior National Showcase is set to begin its four-day run on Monday, June 12, when nearly 180 of the top rising high school juniors and sophomores from the classes of 2019 of 2020 are set to converge on jetBlue Park for the invitation-only event.

The underclass prospects are divided into eight teams, with teams 1 through 4 taking part in workouts and playing showcase games on Monday-Tuesday, June 12-13, and teams 5 through 8 doing the same thing on Wednesday-Thursday, June 14-15. For the complete schedule, please click here.

Just as in years past, the PG Jr. National is being held in the days preceding the PG National Showcase, which this year will run Friday, June 16, through Wednesday, June 21, also at jetBlue Park.

This year’s PG Jr. National will showcase many of the best underclass prospects in the country.

The 2019 class is headed by No. 1-ranked shortstop/right-hander Bobby Witt Jr. from Colleyville, Texas, an Oklahoma commit who plays travel-ball with the Texas-based DBAT organization. No. 6 outfielder/left-hander Riley Greene (Ovieda, Fla.; FTB Tucci; Florida), No. 7 catcher/outfielder Jake Holland (Miramar, Fla.; Elite Squad 17u Prime; Miami) and No. 8 infielder/outfielder Rece Hinds (Niceville, Fla.; Chain National; Louisiana State) will also be in attendance.

Other prominent 2019s slated to perform in front of the hundreds of scouts and college coaches that will be at JetBlue Park for all four days include:

No.  14 outfielder Logan Britt (Aledo, Texas; DBAT; Texas A&M), No. 16 shortstop Tyler Callihan (Neptune Beach, Fla.; Central Florida Gators; South Carolina); No. 17 right-hander/outfielder Joseph Charles (Celebration, Fla.; Central Florida Gators; North Carolina) and No. 19 outfielder/left-hander Judson Fabian (Ocala, Fla.; Orlando Scorpions; Florida).

The 2020 class is ably represented by five prospects ranked in the top-10 nationally:

No. 2 right-hander/corner-infielder Victor Mederos (Miami. Fla.; MVP Banditos; Miami); No. 5 right-hander/outfielder Nate Wohlgemuth (Owasso, Okla.; Oklahoma Fuel; uncommitted); No. 6 left-hander/first baseman Liam Norris (Cary, N.C.; Team Elite Prime; uncommitted); No. 7 outfielder/third baseman Brandon Fields (Orlando, Fla.; Chet Lemon’s Juice; uncommitted) and No. 9 outfielder/right-hander Josh Shuler (Suwanee, Ga.; Georgia Jackets; uncommitted).

No. 19 right-hander/utility Cayden Wallace (Greenbriar, Ark.; Rawlings Arkansas Prospects 15’s, uncommitted) and No. 20 catcher/third baseman Dylan Crews (Longwood, Fla., Scorpions 2019 Prime, uncommitted) will also be performing. Mederos, Wohlgemuth, Norris, Shuler and Crews were all selected to take part in last year’s inaugural PG 14u Select Baseball Festival at jetBlue Park.

The relatively short history of the PG Jr. National Showcase is already a rich one. Twenty-seven of its former participants have made their big-league debuts, including the Nationals’ Bryce Harper (2008 Jr. National), who was the overall No. 1 pick in the 2010 MLB June Amateur Draft, the 2012 National League Rookie of the Year and the 2015 NL Most Valuable Player.

Other notables on the PG Jr. National list of current big-leaguers are the Rockies’ Nolan Arenado, the Cubs’ Addison Russell, the Astros’ Lance McCullers Jr., the Indians’ Francisco Lindor, the Rangers’ Joey Gallo, the Pirates Josh Bell and Dodgers’ Joc Pederson.

Forty-two event alumni went on to become either first-round or first-round compensation picks and 346 have been drafted overall. More than 1,225 prospects have made college commitments, including at least 84 who will be at next week’s 2017 PG Jr. National.
