National High School Top 50: April 4

With another week of high school baseball in the books, there is a new No. 1 team in the nation with Buchanan (Calif.). The entire team has been remarkably consistent; the pitching staff has not given up a run total above four in a game this year for a staff ERA of 1.12. The offense has been explosive as well with a season batting average above .300.

Archbishop McCarthy (Fla.) holds steady at No. 2 and Oxford (Miss.) joins the top 3 in the No. 3 spot. Huntington Beach (Calif.) finds themselves in the No. 4 spot and the newest addition to the top 5 is Parkview (Ga.) at No. 5. Parkview pulled off an incredible 4-0 run through their spring break schedule in Florida after allowing a single run in the four games combined.

The biggest jump in the rankings belongs to two-time defending state champs Shawnee (Okla.) as they jump from No. 39 to No. 18. Shawnee is one of the teams that highlights an outstanding Oklahoma baseball scene as they join No. 14 Owasso (Okla.), No. 43 Deer Creek (Okla.), and no. 45 Blanchard (Okla.) as part of the Texahoma region.

Two other teams who made significant jumps this week are No. 16 West Monroe (La.) and No. 20 Oak Grove (Miss.).

Newcomers to the Top 50 are No. 33 Lake Travis (Tex.), No. 40 Helena (Ala.), No. 41 Wakeland (Tex.), No. 42 Riverdale Baptist (Md.), and No. 49 O’Fallon Township (Ill.). St. John Bosco (Calif.) rejoins the rankings at No. 27 following an impressive three-game sweep of former No. 1 Orange Lutheran (Calif.). O’Fallon Township was recently seen at the PG Rawlings Select Classic #1 after winning the event.
