"Not only was the event impeccably organized, but the boys were literally treated like Major League players. Perfect Game provided our son with an opportunity to participate in a nationally televised event which has helped lead to recruiting discussions with some of the most prestigious baseball and academic college programs in the country.

"Maybe equally important were the relationships that the event helped our son to develop. He has not only stayed in touch with several of the boys (from both the East and West squads) but we've already had one of the West Coast boys and his dad come out to New York and stay with us in our home.

"While it may seem too good to be true to those who have not experienced it first hand, anyone who does not participate will never truly know what an incredible opportunity they will have missed. From the professional bus transportation, top-shelf hotel accommodations and meals, to the professional baseball announcers and coaches, top-tier game venues and the incredible gear that was provided without cost, no one would believe it until they experience it.

"We can't thank Perfect Game enough for giving our son the opportunity of a lifetime. Not only was this everything it was promised to be, it is hard for us to imagine anything that could even remotely compare."

It didn’t take long for the 14u Perfect Game Select Baseball Festival to become the premier event at the 14u age level in all of youth baseball. In the spirit of continuing to grow the game of baseball while providing the platform for its elite players to develop and showcase their skills, Perfect Game was excited to add the 14u PG Select to the schedule during the 2016 season.

Perfect Game is proud to announce that the 14u PG Select Baseball Festival is returning in 2017.

The game consists of the very best 14u players in North America, and players, parents, scouts and fans all will have the opportunity to nominate players online to be a part of the selection process. The 40 spots, which will be split between two 20-man rosters in an East/West matchup, will be made available based on performances by players that attend Perfect Game events in 2017. Players selected for this game must be from the class of 2021 or under the age of 15 as of May 1, 2017.

The 14u PG Select Baseball Festival will once again take place on Labor Day weekend, with the game being played on Sunday, September 3, 2017, at 7:00 p.m. EST at JetBlue Ballpark, the Spring Training home of the Boston Red Sox. The JetBlue Player Development Complex serves as the home for several Perfect Game events, including the annual Junior National and National Showcases in mid-June as well as the new 14u National Showcase in early August, an event designed to help identify the top players from this age group. The players will stay at the Hyatt Regency Coconut Point Resort and Spa overlooking the Gulf of Mexico.

In addition the 14u PG Select Baseball Festival is televised live on Fox Sports Networks and streamed simultaneously on MLB.com. You can watch the full 2016 broadcast here:

For as proud as we are at Perfect Game to be able to showcase these young players on these platforms on both a national and global scale, we are more humbled and honored that the proceeds from this event benefit Golisano Children’s Hospital of Southwest Florida. GCH is the only children’s hospital between Tampa and Miami, and it provides vital healthcare for the region’s sick and injured children and their families, from infancy through age 18.

During the inaugural year of the event the players collectively raised $29,804 to support GCH.

There is no player participation fee for all players selected and the weekend includes a visit to Golisano Children’s Hospital of Southwest Florida as well as an awards dinner for the athletes and their families.

Perfect Game is proud to have assisted in the development of more than 900 MLB players and tens of thousands of college committed athletes since it was founded in 1995. All Perfect Game events are run in full compliance with Major League Baseball’s Pitch Smart initiative.

Perfect Game Staff

Perfect Game to honor Pat Gillick in new Philadelphia Showcase  By Maya Heyman Perfect Game is bringing its elite showcase experience to Philadelphia’s FDR Park for the inaugural Philly Stars/Pat Gillick Showcase this weekend, honoring one of the greatest executives in MLB history in the city where he constructed his final of three World Series winners. The event will take place on Sunday, the same day as the DICK’S All-American Classic, taking place just across the street at Citizens Bank Park.  The showcase will allow Philadelphia-area players to gain exposure and will also honor Gillick, who has been a tremendous influence in both professional and amateur baseball.   Jered Goodwin, Vice President of Scouting Operations for Perfect Game, said the idea came naturally.  “Going to Philly made a lot of sense to honor Pat Gillick, who's been a...

PG Draft: Potential Risers Into Top 50

Michael Albee
Article Image
We are in the early stages of the 2027 cycle and there is still plenty of time for players to make significant jumps up the board. While our current Top-100 provides an early look at the class, several players just outside that group have the upside to make a run at becoming Top-50 pick by next July. With that in mind, each member of the draft team each selected one college player and one prep player they believe could make the jump into the Top-50 over the course of the spring. These are the names to keep an eye on as the 2027 draft picture continues to develop. Joey’s Picks:   Jake Cueto (27 FL) goes oppo πŸ’£ on a mid-90s LonL heater. Performing at a very high level, hitting .464 with 5 homers. PG Wood Bat Fall Kickoff Scout Notes

Evan Thompson (‘29, AZ) showcasing the all-fields power with this ground rule double the other way. Immense power upside. Really fun offensive profile #FallKickoff https://t.co/l551KirUOf pic.twitter.com/QW0AIeg59g — Perfect Game Four Corners (@PG_FourCorners) September 7, 2026 Evan Thompson (2029, Gilbert, Ariz.) put on an offensive clinic throughout the weekend, going 8-for-13 with three extra-base hits. He capped off his MVP performance with a walkoff home run to take home the championship. Thompson is one of the premier players in the 2029 class. A fluid left-handed stroke consistently finds barrels. There is all fields power present that will only continue to develop further. It would not be a surprise if Thimpson ends up the top ranked player in the class when it is all said and done.  Chase Fillman (2028, Goodyear, Ariz.) put together a loud summer circuit and...

What Profiles Are Valued Most at Top of Draft

Tyler Henninger
Article Image
The landscape of the MLB Draft continues to evolve each and every year. What teams value at the top of the draft can change based on the strength of a particular class, shifts in player development philosophy, and, perhaps most importantly, the way organizations evaluate risk and upside. Some trends are subtle, while others become impossible to ignore when viewed across multiple years. For this study, I set out to answer one question: What player profiles do teams value at the top of the draft? To answer it, I analyzed the Top-100 picks from each of the last six drafts (2021-2026). That gives us 600 total selections to examine and provides a large enough sample to identify both the profiles that have remained consistently popular and those that have gained or lost significant ground. The data was broken down by position, handedness and level to create individual player profiles. While...

2027 MLB Draft Profile Preview: Collegiate Right-Handed Pitchers The collegiate left-handed pitching class is always a popular demographic, and this year’s is no different. The group contains a mix of power pitch mixes and polished pitch-ability, with healthy representation from power four schools and a handful of mid-majors. 2027 Draft: Way Too Early 1:1 Predictions

Tyler Henninger
Article Image
2027 Top 100 Draft Board  Current Favorite: SS Dylan Seward, Norco HS (Calif.) In our first iteration of the 2027 Draft Board, Norco shortstop Dylan Seward ranks No. 1 overall. The switch-hitter is an ultra-twitchy player with a lot to like on both sides of the ball. He is a supreme athlete that should stick up the middle. Explosiveness is shown in all aspects of his game and gives the profiles big time upside.  In the event that Seward does not go 1:1, each member of our draft team selected a player that they think could wind up in that spot. We are still nearly a full year away from draft day, but here are our “Way Too Early” predictions for the 1st overall pick next July.  Henni’s Pick: C/UTL Gavin Kelly, West Virginia    Gavin Kelly (@WVUBaseball) sends this over the wall in CF for a solo πŸ’£ (100 EV/ 416 ft).
