Florida State

It is never good business to bet against America's most consistent college baseball program, yet even given that backdrop 2017 looks like it could be a special year in Tallahassee. The bulk of last year's Super Regional team is back, with closer and center field being the only two significant question marks.

Senior second baseman Matt Henderson is the classic junior college transfer in his second year of Division I baseball. Here's the translation: he's having a big fall and he looks poised for a breakout year. The switch-hitting Henderson had an outstanding summer for his hometown Santa Barbara Foresters and his plus speed compliments his high baseball IQ. He and Taylor Walls make up what may be college baseball's most offensive middle infield.

Two newcomers who have stood out in the fall are highly touted infielder Drew Mendoza (2015 PG All-American) and junior college transfer Rhett Aplin. Mendoza has outrageous upside and he will be a no-doubt first-round pick if his performance gets near his tools. Aplin is an outfielder from Seminole State College of Florida and he should help offset the surprise signing of Ben DeLuzio. DeLuzio was a third-round pick out of high school but signed as an undrafted free agent last summer despite having one year of eligibility remaining.
